From the bottom of my heart: a most sincere thanks

We are approaching almost twenty-four hours when I posted an e-mail asking for some words of encouragement. I had received some more bad news in the onslaught of bad news that is my life.

I didn't really know what to expect or to hope for. I just thought I might be able to find a couple of people that would offer some solace. I can't begin to tell you all the amount of people who stepped forward through posts, messages and private e-mails to offer me assistance, comfort and simple kind words. In today's harsh times these things are often overlooked and undervalued. They shouldn't be.

I haven't been here very long but the outpouring moved even a cynic such as myself. I've grown fond of you people, who I now count among my little web world of friends. And during the disaster of the election and the last few hours arguing about the things I most love (books and writing) I have come to depend on you. You people help to keep me going. One step at a time.

Again, I offer you a sincere thanks. And for those who expressed concern: as the storm clouds gather once again, rest assured, I am going to pull through. I will continue to fight. After all, I have you:

MY DU FRIENDS!!! :) :) :)

Thank you.

Onward.

4. If we don't have each other...

... what do we have left?

Please lean on us anytime... We're all here for you... And just know, when you are going through your day, suffering and thinking you just can't go on, there are millions of people out there at that very moment, suffering along with you... You're not alone... Life is so hard right now...

As long as we all stick together, it'll be OK...

5. not really much that can be done sadly
All I can do is take the medicine that doesn't work,
eat food I don't want or desire,
and take things one step at a time.

I'll keep going, if for no other reason, than to refuse to give Jeb Bush and his ilk the satisfaction of winning. One must take their victories where one can find them.

No one ever said it would be easy. But the internet (and DU) keeps me in contact with other people. :)

7. Hang in there, at least
until I get you to like Heart of Darkness and dislike Faulkner! (And you can take your time on making those changes-- no hurry!)

9. Yeah derstyron....
Learning to like Heart of Darkness should take thirty years at least. Forty if you want to REALLY like it.
