Band Aid Returns, 20 Years On
The cream of Britain’s music stars will come together today to re-record the Band Aid smash hit Do They Know It’s Christmas? The historic remake comes 20 years after the birth of the original single.

Called Band Aid 20, it features stars including Robbie Williams, Sir Paul McCartney, Busted, Ms Dynamite, Jamelia, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Justin Hawkins from The Darkness. The new recording is tipped to be the Christmas No 1 and Chancellor Gordon Brown has pledged to waive VAT on its sales.

It will hit the shops on November 29, with all proceeds going to famine relief in Africa, targeting the Darfur region of Sudan. Bookmaker William Hill is refusing to take bets on the single reaching the top of the charts because it is seems so inevitable.

Ultravox’s Midge Ure, who penned Do They Know it’s Christmas? with Sir Bob Geldof, is executive producer of the new record. He took an hour to create the melody on a miniature keyboard in the kitchen of his mansion in Chiswick, west London.

1. Is it going to suck as bad as 20 years ago?
I'm thinking that it will.

4. That actually sounds worse than the '80s version
They got the guy from the freaking Darkness? May Odin have mercy. :puke:

I'd rather just send my money to the people in Sudan and never hear the song, thank you.
