Today I gave a bum all my spare change. |
|
I just came from a meeting talking about tax, mutual funds, etc. I have a plan,I am feeling good. I know what they say about giving change,it was like getting cold water splashed in my face.

2. I did that today, too, and I never do that.... |

I usually think, "You look healthy, get a fucking job," but now I realize that's something someone with red morals would say.
So I gave a guy some moolah by Ameoba Records in Hollywood. He was pleasant. I liked him.

3. I'll have that chance in a few hours |

Latenight outside the 24 hour grocery stores in Las Vegas is a moochers paradise.
My favorites are two of the regulars:
1) stocky white guy who walks around with a gas can and asks for $2, because his car is down the street and he just ran out of gas.
2) Hispanic guy who always wants $1 because it's his birthday. He's looking pretty good for someone who's got to be at least 1000.

who would yab on about being a Vietnam Vet, but he was only about 25. I guess the Gulf War doesn't merit the same amount of pity.

at the use of "Bum" Hahaha - and my frined here, Freddie the Freeloader is abashed and apalled as well.
I was approached one day in the KMart parking lot by a guy who "needed any change at all for bus fare" so I emptied my pocket for him - probably about a buck or less. The next day, same guy, same story, so I said - "Hey, Pal - you ought to change up now and then - you hit me yesterday with the same line". For a second he looked a little surprised - and angry. Then he looked sort of sheepish and said "Well, thanks, Man - most people just tell me to go fuck myself". So I gave him a dollar and said "Quit asking Dick Cheney for money."

a few years ago, I was doing some odd jobs. For one week I loaded delivery trucks at a (major cookie maker) warehouse. There was a place in the back of the warehouse where they kept damaged packages. The contents are still fine, but the box is busted or something. It was right after Halloween, and they had some orange filled 0re0 cookies. The boss thanked me for driving 25 miles to work for 2 hours that day and told me I could take as much as I wanted from the stash.
I grabbed about 20 packs of 0re0 cookies and 2 boxes of nutri-grain bars. The 0re0s were for the neighborhood kidz and the bars were for whoever.
There's an intersection where there's always someone with a sign saying 'work for food' or similar. I was waiting in line at the light and I called the guy over. I pointed to the 0re0 pile in my back seat and told the guy he could have as many as he wanted. he said 'man, that's really kind of you but I'm hungry. Do you have anything not so sweet?'
I gave him 2 boxes of nutri-grain bars and the 20 bucks in my wallet. I hope he's doing OK.

11. There use to be a homeless |
|
guy that held a sign that read, "Why lie? Need to buy cigarettes and whiskey". Now, I always appreciate honesty in an individual and would always give him some change.
Another funny one I use to see was, "Need to buy fuel for my private jet". :-)

12. That private jet line is fantastic! |
|
The first one I've seen many variations of, but the jetsetter gag is something I'll remember and distribute, maybe even in a group email.

I cannot believe how many people whine about welfare for teen moms while they say corporate welfare helps. Just wanted to preach to the choir. Vinnie Vin http://www.vinnievin.com
