Ever feel that you've plopped down in some strange universe
and nothing makes sense any more?

I've been trying to unplug a bit and was just catching up with the headlines and issues of the day. I just feel surreally disconnected.

What happened? There's a Talking Heads song playing in the background.

4. Well, I've never really fit in
But I did manage to carve out a little place for myself as I got older.

Just seems different right now. Hard to explain.

6. I was away on a nearly deserted island for a week
No TV, no internet. It was actually a good thing; I felt like my brain got cleaned out a bit. :D

8. Now that's some brainwashing I could use
Jason came on Election Day and it took us a couple of days to get out of that funk, then we had to tear down my back porch, and then I got strep throat. Just been a rough time. Today he drove back to Ohio, and we still don't have a move-in date pinned down.

There's lots of confusion at my primary job with I may lose because of severe budget shortfalls. Just swirling in a state of confusion and now my anchor is hundreds of miles away again. :-(

9. I'm sorry
That sounds like a suckish situation all around.

I know what you mean about having your anchor being hundreds of miles away. It's very hard to deal with. :(

12. At least you have an anchor.
Sometimes I feel like I'm drifting through this alone. Not that I don't have friends who are there for me, but no one to truly go through this with.

So, take heart in that your situation, while frustrating, is temporary. I hope that makes you feel better.

13. Yeah, that's basically all we could manage
to come up with after Kerry's concession — that will somehow get through it together.

But it's not just that. I'm actually going backward in terms of pay lately, just when I thought I could breathe and my property taxes skyrocketed... just a whole bunch of things.

I probably should just go to bed right now instead of letting my mind wander like this.

Thanks to both of you for your kind thoughts. :-)

14. Try to take things day by day instead of getting overwhelmed
by the totality of it all.

We'll make it through this somehow. We always do. :-)

16. You need
Democrats near you to help you. We should be helping each other. I'm not in Chicago, but is anyone here in that area?

10. Yeah, that certainly doesn't help
It seems to be empowering all of the hate and bigotry.

11. Once in a Lifetime
And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful
Wife
And you may ask yourself-well...how did I get here?
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.
And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Water dissolving...and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Carry the water at the bottom of the ocean
Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.
And you may ask yourself
What is that beautiful house?
And you may ask yourself
Where does that highway go?
And you may ask yourself
Am I right? ...am I wrong?
And you may tell yourself
My god!...what have I done?
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

7. I'm convinced I am in my personal hell.
I also realize the problems with these disconnected thoughts. Ever notice though most of these events are precipitated by those who profess so called "Conservative Values".

They want to either maintain or a return to the status quo, and end up creating more chaos.

15. I haven't caught up with the headlines YET
the biggest stories somehow seep to me through DU and another website I frequent (I know about Gonzalez and I know about Arafat and I know about Fallujah, that's about it).

But I still haven't gone back to the news on TV (and I won't) or newspapers (that's up in the air).

Once you get away from it for a while, it IS a strange feeling. I went on a two week camping trip this summer and while I was gone, Kerry picked Edwards for his running mate. I came back to find out and it felt so weird, like "oh wow, the world just kept on going on without me?"

LOL!

17. Yes. Law school...
But that was self-inflicted so it doesn't count.

The left does feel like a collective fugue state at the moment. I think we're all just waiting for something... like the next big thing. Maybe we need another huge outrage to confirm our suspicion that thing really have taken a downturn.
