computer/internet question
Slow Dial up connection - not sure if that is actually the problem, though.

Sometimes when I try to download something it gets to some position like 85% or even what JUST happened - 98% loaded and then just STOPS!!! It will usually work if I refresh, but then I have to wait another 5 hours (VERY SLIGHT exaggeration)

Why oh why does it stop loading? And another thing that happens sometimes is only getting the audio. For instance last night I let something load and watched it, didn't keep it cause didn't think I wanted it, then decided to look at it again today and after two tries only got the audio - this from the same link I used last night...

use that instead of the default download manager.

Not only does it let you resume when your connection breaks, but it also splits the file into pieces so it loads faster.

2. your best bet is to use a download manager..
like GetRight. It allows you to resume downloads. I used when I was on dial-up years ago. I still use my FTP proggy when downloading large files, just in case my dl times out.

Don't know what say about your second problem, except maybe you need to clear your cache. Asuuming you are using IE, in your Tools menu, select Internet Options. On the General tab, you'll see a button for Delete Files in the Temporary Internet Files section.

4. Another solution

Many dialup ISP's have a "feature" which automatically disconnects you after a give time period if it sees no outbound activity from your system. To get around this there is software which periodically sends from your system to trick the ISP into keeping your line open. Here is a link to a site with some free software which might solve your problem ( I used this type of program years ago, when I still had dialup and it kept me connected 24/7 on a dedicated line). Here is the site

7. You can also set your email program to look for mail every couple minutes
That's how I used to stay connected for days on a dialup.
