1. Yes, and for a number of reasons - not all of which are caused by
gettin' jiggy.

Tell your friend to see the doc as soon as possible.

4. Here's a thought ...
"Why does it hurt when I pee?
Why does it hurt when I pee?
I don’t want no doctor
To stick no needle in me
Why does it hurt when I pee?
I got it from the toilet seat
I got it from the toilet seat
It jumped right up
’n’ grabbed my meat
Got it from the toilet seat
My balls feel like a pair of maracas"

Maybe it's the gon-o-ka-ka-khackus. Just a wild, wild guess...

Not a good sign. Go to the Free Clinic Monday.

Tell your friend ;-) that he needs to go to the Doctor immediately.

He could order a massive amount of penicillin off of the Internet from a Mexican or Canadian pharmacy and take that but going to the Doctor is a better choice. Good Luck I mean tell him good luck.

33. Here's my $.02
I have a long history of kidney stones - runs in my family.

The first symptom was always blood in the urine, but no pain. At first, the doctors thought it was a urinary tract infection, but it was really the stone getting ready to make its painful journey from the kidney to the bladder.

If I were your, um, friend, I would reccomend a visit to the doctor ASAP. Insist on a kidney x-ray. If you have a stone in the works, they will know. If that's the case, you should also insist on a prescription of Percocet, plus you should stock up on the fabled herb. The reason is that Percocet will make you extremely nautious (sp?), and the herb takes care of that.

Heed my words: if you have a stone in the works, you will want to be well-armed. I promise you that when it finally starts to move, you will be crying on the bathroom floor for hours. No shit. Don't fuck around. Plan on missing several days of work. Also, starting right now, massively increase your water consumption - cranberry juice is also a good option. I'm talking 8 liters per day (!) Yes, I mean it. If you see any yellow color at all in your urine, you are not drinking enough water - your pee should be clear. Once the stone is on the move, the only thing that will help is if you push it along with lots of liquid.

I'm sorry to present a worst-case senario, but I've been there, and I want to help anyone who might find themselves travelling that same path.

Please feel free to PM me if you need any support. I've learned more than I ever cared to know about the urinary tract and its complication over the past 15 years. I've even had 4 surgeries.

We dems have suffered enough recently - I'd hate to see one of my fellow dems go through any of this without help...

43. I do not vote for the kidney stone
It could be a UTI, or an STD though and here is the reason I think that:

The pain w/a stone generally starts up in the actual kidney, and it can be as deceptive as a "generalized backache" or feel like the entire Marine Corp is marching up and down your insides. Either way you know something is up big time. Also, the blood show often looks like the urine has just turned to tea, because by the time the blood gets from the kidney to the bladder it has had time to turn dark. Red blood in the urine indicates something more local to the bladder or urethra and COULD be result of stone scratching around in that area: HOWEVER how it got that far down in his system without him melting into a little puddle from the pain is beyond me.

Been there done that, let me tell you. I had a kidney stone and I had a baby without drugs. Let me tell you that I would have TWINS without drugs (not by C Section of course) before I would have another kidney stone!!!!

Localized burning and irritation in the urethra is more indicative of infectious processes. Blood with no pain could indicate there were polyps in the bladder that broke loose. This is also something which should not be ignored.

The patient needs to see a doctor, tomorrow if possible, head to the local Doc in the Box. They will xray, do urine tests, check for pus, debris, etc. and either give you pain meds, or antibiotics, whichever is appropriate and tell you to drink, drink drink drink.

Since our patient is not describing the type of pain that signals a stone I expect it to be an infection.

44. Infection or STD possibly.. blood? though hmm..
Could be clamidia (sp?) or just another bladder infection.

It will only get worse without treatment... thou friend needest
drugs.

Blood though.... I would start here. This is the british public
national health service, not a private doctor selling a scam.
The website is designed to troubleshoot these sorts of things and
to inform people honestly:
