Whoever donated to DU in my name..... |
|
Thank you so much,I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. I was really surprised to see the gold star beside my username. I plan to donate to DU later on.....right now I am helping out some people who are really in need,so my funds are being spread rather thin. Thanks again. :hi:

3. I've obviously made too many enemies, and not enough friends... |
|
What do you have to do to get someone to donate in your name? :-)
A sob story perhaps? How about I am currently unemployed (yet doing whatever work I can get) and trying to live on about $70 US a week, while supporting my partner and (to a tiny degree) parents as much as I can?
No? How about I am intending to go back to school to increase my qualifications next year?
No? How about begging? Please, pleeeeaaaase! Pretty Pretty Please?
No? Ah fuck it. I guess I'll just have to buy a star when I can afford it. Hell, at the moment I can barely afford my internet connection, and that only costs me about $15 US a month! But as soon as I can, I SWEAR I'll donate too. DU is too important to me to miss out.

I still smile whenever I think about the fact that someone donated on my behalf as well.

going on around DU...wonder if Bill Gates visits? Whoever it is...or they are that give in the name of others are SAINTS in my mind.

9. I don't think they have the same sort of set-up on Free Republic |
|
I find their format confusing, but they don't seem to distinguish between members other than those that know each other and, of course, those they consider disruptors. I just did a search on there and I certainly did not donate to them. Actually, it was interesting. I did a search for ``cats'' and the first thread was titled ``Cats Can Get SARS.'' From what I've seen of their view of animals, they would think of this as a good thing.:grr:
It's likely that they don't need donations as much as DU does, since they have over 100,000 members. We had 31,000 the last time I checked. Scary thought! :scared:

7. It sounds like you are being very generous in helping out others |
|
that need it. I am so very glad that someone donated for you on DU. Someone sponsored me, as well, since I've had such horrific vet bills. I do know who it is, however. DU people have to be just about the most generous and caring people on earth. Congrats on your star! It suits you...:-)
