Mac OS X users: Is Firefox better than Safari?

Please give me your opinions on Firefox versus Safari. I like Safari but it sometimes locks up on me.

1. I use Camino instead

it's supposed to have better security.

I think firefox for Mac is probably pretty good.

2. On OS X..

I use Links in the terminal.

When that doesn't work out I use Camino or Firefox. Safari is good, but Apple must be punished.

3. Not having worked on a Mac recently...

(which is praise, I think...), I cannot vouch for FF on it. I use FF on Linux and I install it on all my customer's windows boxen. All of them. I get that box in here, for me to do a cleanup/security lockdown, and on it goes, with T-Bird.

EVERYONE loves it. Everyone. Not one complaint. They all make the switch seamlessly.

I think that says it all.

4. I like Safari better overall

but Firefox is great. (I only use it on Linux). I've never had Safari freeze, but I disabled caching, that could possibly help you.

5. I'm a part time Mac User

I have both on my Powerbook. Firefox didn't
work right for me...however ver 1.0 seems to
be working better. Firefox has the ability to
set your home page as a group of pages that
open in tabs...I like that...so I guess I
lean toward Firefox.

6. I like it better. Safari occasionally gave me grief on blogger

with the compose mode, and Firefox is so seamless and easy to use that it seems to be reading my thoughts.

7. I haven't used Firefox yet

and with me changing to an iMac G5 (froman iMac DV), it woud be unfair to say "oh yeah Safari is the bomb", not until I've used the 1.3 version for a while.

8. Firefox at work, Safari at home

That's what I use. Not entirely sure why, but for my research-related uses I've been using Mozilla and/or Firefox for a long time, while at home when I'm mostly reading weblogs and such I use Safari on my iBook. Lately I've been trying out NetNewsWire as an RSS newsfeed reader, and it uses Safari for its integrated browser pane.

Safari 2.0 is supposed to have a lot of powerful new features, so the browser wars will continue for the foreseeable future. (So long as everybody is producing good standards-compliant software and people learn to stop making Internet Explorer-only pages, that's all to the good.)

10. When I use Mac OS X

I run Firefox-- to me it's better interface. Occasionally I'll run Safari if I need to disguise the user agent as IE to view some page that some schmuck coded for "IE" only. On Linux I use Firefox and occasionally Konqueror for the same reasons as above (Safari got its disguise user-agent from Konqueror).

Firefox can also do the disguise if it is hacked, I hope they put it in the main tree. I understand the reluctance to do so, you want web pages reflecting Firefox/Mozilla hits, not IE.
