Any eBay experts out there?
Okay, heres my problem. I sent payment off a few weeks for an item I won but have not received it yet. I have emailed the person about 3 or 4 times & they won't return my emails. All I ask is if item has been sent.SOmetimes when I buy from eBay, the sellers will charge alot for shipping than ship the cheapest way possible taking forever to receive (which is probably what has happened here)

I don't want to be a jerk & complain to eBay & risk them leaving nasty feedback for me.My question is, how do I go about getting contact information? I know sellers have received info about me like my phone numbers with items that have been on backorder. How do I go about getting this seller's phone number? IMO, if I call them & confront them its alot more difficult to ignore than an email. I'll be friendly, but atleast I'll get to the bottom of the problem.Sorr, I'm not very bright when it comes to eBay(but I am learning) Many thanks all!

1. You can request contact info from eBay
At least you used to be able to do so. I used to buy on eBay a lot more than I do now, but once I was forced to go this route and actually call the person.

Surprise ... the package showed up less than a week later.

2. Don't be shy and don't worry about being nice...
they are screwing you and you have every right to complain. By all means, alert eBay about this. You're probably not the only one.

They took your money, they won't return emails -- it adds up to fraud. Let eBay handle it.

3. Has it been 30 days
I think ebay falls under the same directly marketing federal law that you need to be notified if they can't ship in 30 days. You sent payment? Was it a check or a cashiers check. They will wait 10 days for it to clear. if you don't have a cc or debit card, borrow one next time and pay your friend. Its a pain to deal online with checks.

4. I'm pretty eBay would give me the info
My problem is I look at their homepage & am completely lost! I don't want to file with Squaretrade, but I can't find a link or where to click to get this information. Its VERY frusterating!

6. Hi, from the home page
look for the "MY Ebay" link where you will sign in with your username and passwork and then on that "My Ebay" page you will see on the far left if you scroll down a box called "Related Links" and under that category is the option for "Dispute Resolution" and "Report a Problem" among other things.. by the way I sell on ebay and ship no later than 48 hours after receiving a payment and if i know I am going to be away I let the buyer know that..The fact that this person is not responding to your emails is a red flag and you should report the problem to get the ball rolling... does not necessarily mean they are going to screw you but you never know...

To get this persons phone number click from any page on the search link and then on the left choose the option "find contact information" and you will be led through the process..
good luck

Here you go... Hope this helps...

Keep in mind that when you mail your payment, it takes a lot longer for the seller to get your item out... They have to receive it first, then process it and log it and only then prepare the item for shipping. You should look into getting yourself a Paypal account which makes things much easier...

5. It's not being a jerk to complain
I've only bought a few things through ebay but before I ever bid on anything, I check the seller's record and feedback. If there have been problems before, I don't bother with that item. So if you don't leave feedback about your problem, you're not alerting others to the same possible outcome.

If it was a book or tape it may have been sent media mail but even that doesn't take much longer than a week or ten days. They may be waiting for a check to clear but that doesn't excuse their ignoring your emails.

7. I have run into a lot of "scam" sellers
Edited on Sun Nov-14-04 02:00 PM by Goathead
I bought some menus from the S.S. United States once and they took forever to get to me. It turns out she sent them "media rate" which is against the law because the menus are not considered to be media. I should have reported her but I didn't. When I contacted her to ask if she had sent the item she sent back a really rude response. I won't be doing any business with her again.

Okay, It was success. Now, I just hope their not total pricks! It will be 30 days this Wednesday(Should I just wait til then or make a friendly call) Oh, & like an idiot, I just checked their feedback. They have had 5 or 6 in the past 6 months. Most have said this person is slow & doesn't reply to emails.Oh well, live & learn!

10. Request contact info
...I had a similar experience. Turned out the seller had a death in the family, so before you leave neutral or negative feedback, try going that route.

PS: I LOVE EBay. I got my laptop for $200, works great and a new digital camera/printer dock for $200.
