inverted peace symbol: what does this represent? |
|
As I was driving home from work today, I drove by this little old lady with an inverted peace symbol plastered to her bumper. She had another bumper sticker, which at first glance (@70 mph) appeared to be a pro-repub endorsement, but upon closer inspection actually said "Friends don't let Friends Vote Republican"!!! I thought that was pretty cool!

Like somewhere in the early to mid sixties the inverted peace symbol was the way it was displayed. Don't ask me why or when it got flipped. Perhaps others have more info. It still meant the same thing.

It is also an automotive logo depending on which way it's flipped

that the peace symbol was a "satanic symbol" because it was, in essence, an upside down cross.
That probably has something to do with the sticker on the car you passed...

8. Actually, the peace symbol originated as a combination of |
|
the semaphore signals for the letters N (as in Nuclear) and D (as in Disarmament)
It was first seen at "Ban the Bomb" rallies in the early '60's.
