Not Rice, please. She's mean to her fans, and I've already read Interview.

10. That big long Samuel Delaney novel
Edited on Mon Nov-15-04 11:40 PM by crispini
gets pretty homoerotic in parts... what is it... Dalghren, I think, although I may have spelled it wrong. I love that book, it's so fucking unbelieveably weird, it's like James Joyce on dope decided to write a sci-fi novel.

11. Does fanfic count?
Cause IIRC "The Adventures of Mistress Janeway" has some pretty spicy sex of all sorts in it. Damn fine fanfic too.

12. Anything by Samuel Delaney
Edited on Mon Nov-15-04 11:54 PM by tishaLA
he's the best!

Confession: I don't like sci-fi, so my opinion might not matter. But I also love his autobiography, The Motion of Light on Water. If you haven't read it, it's worth reading--and get the British text, if possible. It's unexpurgated and has some wonderful stuff the American imprint doesn't have.

ETA: In addition to dealing with queer themes, he also does interesting stuff with race in his novels. I've only read Return to Neveryon, Dhalgren, and The Einstein Intersection, but they are smart, interesting books by a smart, interesting writer
