1. I don't know the cause
But I do know it can be treated w/ drugs.

I have this disorder too.

2. Try stretching
There's a book called, oddly enough, "Stretching," by Bob Anderson, and it's all the best principles of yoga and other exercises. Check it out. You might get some help there.

Also, make sure you're getting enough calcium.

3. Do you get this at night when you are trying to fall asleep?
If you are it could indicate a sleep disorder. If you are not having restful sleep and have jittery legs at night tell your doctor.

6. Restless Legs Syndrome
Hi. Do a google search for Restless Legs Syndrome. You should be able to find pretty much information. A couple of things I have tried - that may help are to take vitamins (I don't eat many vegetables at all so probably have some deficiencies) and cut down on caffeine in the evening. The lack caffeine seems to possibly have done the most good for me.

Mine is in my left leg too for some reason.

Here is a link to the restless leg syndrome website.

10. It is indicative of a sleep disorder
...I went to the sleep clinic a year ago and was diagnosed with restless legs. Seriously disturbs my sleep.

5. Often caused
by too little calcium. If you want to take drugs for it benadryl is supposed to help and really if there is anything that is OK to take it is benadryl. It puts you to sleep but supposedly helps with the restless legs. I have had that a few times, really frustrating.

11. I have this...
It's so bad sometimes I can barely stand it. /I have to go to bed when it gets really bad. Sometimes I'm not even that tired. :(

Last night it was really bad. My dh has been looking at links for me, and maybe I'll start taking a calcium pill or something to help with it.

12. I've had it awfully bad at times.
It seems better since I started on magnesium with calcium; started amitryptiline too.

14. Mayo Clinic has a site devoted to this issue - I have it too but not
too bad...
calcium definitely helps, at least for me.
Have not been to Mayo, just noticed it when I was there when my hubby had surgery this summer.
Drives ya nuts sometimes, doesn't it?

15. I had it during pregnancy
It was horrible. I thought I would go mad from lack of restful sleep. It went away after the baby was born, so I assumed it had something to do with poor circulation, but that's just a guess.
