Poll question: How physically fit are you?
I'm not talking about how much you weigh. I mean "fit" in terms of physical strength / endurance and general overall health. How would you rate your body now in comparison to how your body was when you were a teenager?

1. Definitely better shape now.

I'm at the gym five days a week. I can run several miles at a time. I have built quite a bit of muscle through strength training. I can leg press three times my own body weight.

Edited to add: I was a skinny teenager without much muscle tone at all.

9. I also think I am in better shape now.
I can run for several miles too a time also. I remember I could not do this in high school. I know I am also stronger, although I haven't had the time to do any weight lifting lately.

4. Much Better NOW than When I was a Teenager, and I NEVER Go to the Gym
Edited on Mon Nov-15-04 11:49 PM by AndyTiedye
Gyms are designed to remind us of the bad old days in "Phys Ed" class.
Cheney that!
Phys ed almost made a couch potato of me.

It's all about dancing (till the sun comes up, and then some)
and mountain biking.

Did more for me than any gym ever coulda done.

7. You just have to find something
that you like doing, and then do it obsessively. ;)

8. Definitely better shape now
I was an overweight kid in high school, and now I'm a good deal less than my high school weight. Back then I was about 6'2" 200, and now I'm about 6'4" 190.

10. Worse...
In h.s., I swam, ran, cheerleading, so I was in good aerobic shape and decent muscular shape. In college, I rock-climbed, got to the point I was climbing about 4x/week. Not so good aerobically, but had great muscle tone. Now, post-kid, moving, not having $$ to climb during the winter, and having just moved back to New England from the flatland that is Indiana, I am in crap for shape, comparatively. I can't wait to either have $$ to get to the gym, or for it to be warm, so I can go climb and swim outside!!

13. I'm WAY more fit now...
than I've been since I fucked up my knee when I was 15. In my early teens I was very athletic but after the knee injury I got too sedentary and let myself slowly go to pot. I got all the way up to at least 275 pounds at one point (on a 5'7" frame). Saw the pictures from xmas 2001, got scared, and fixed my lifestyle. Eat better. Eat less. Exercise more. Have lost over 125 pounds - weighed 145 when I got on the scale yesterday morning. GO ME!

I'm in the best shape I've been in in my entire life. I weigh less than when I was in high school and I work out a lot so I'm fit and could totally kick someone's ass. :)

14. About the same which isn't bad considering...
I've been pregnant a few times and haven't been a teenager in almost 14 years.
I'm probably stronger and I get sick less often than I did in my teens. :7
