Does your dog sleep at the foot of your bed? Mine does. |
|
Why do dogs do that?
I remember there's a crypt at Westminster Abbey in London with a dog at the foot of the marble effigy of a fallen monarch. Sorry, at the moment, I can't remember the sovereign. But, I marvelled when I first saw this.
Why do dogs do this? Are they protecting us? Why don't they snuggle up with us at the head of the bed?
Always loyal. Always obedient. Always at the foot of the bed...or the funeral crypt.
Why is that? Do you know the answer?
:-)

2. Maybe it's because they want to be near us |
|
But if they slept right next to us our bodies would be too warm for them.

3. My dog sleeps at the door inside my bedroom... |
|
at the foot of my bed or on the floor to the left of the bed. Usually during the night she will change and I can hear her walking around.
She's such a good puppy!

5. Dogs are really programmed to be in protect mode all the time. Ever |

notice how quickly a dog wakes up and stands up? Nature made them to be constantly on vigil for the protection of the pack. Being at the foot of the bed puts them in position to best protect you if an intruder invades. In their mind, they are doing their doggy duty by putting themselves between you and any potential danger. My dog actually sleeps with her head pointed towards the door at all times. They truly are our best buddies.

She starts the night under the covers next to my chest, and by the morning her head is on the pillow, sleeping just like a human.
Edit: The cat sleeps on top of the covers in the same spot, sometimes on top of the dog. :)

8. my boys sleep under the covers with me. I'm the big dog in their |
|
thinking and they like to be as physically close to me all the time as they can. When I sleep, they sleep with me, lying in a tight pack. They do in sleep what they do awake.
Dogs love you. THey need you. They are loyal. The best dog moment I've had regarding dog loyalty was visiting Greyfriar's Bobbie's grave. Now there was a wonderful dog.

which is basically a huge comforter folded neatly next to my bed..
or he climbs into bed with me when he's scared or lonely.
