6. Yes this is a tough one, many changed quite a bit. |
|
I have to leave this one an open question. They even made a Ferengi an interesting character. Strong characterizations were at strength of the show, it seems.

in a way that says it all
I can't even vote in this poll. Odo and O'Brian were always a joy to watch, Quark was the only Ferengi that seemed like more than a caricature, Sisko was a complex, sympathetic character, Jadzia was multi-faceted curiosity (as well as a hottie!), Kira was a Bajoran Iraqi, the list goes on...
damn I'm going to have to get the DVD set now, you got me thinking about it too much!
my favourite Quark quote, it still gives me chills:
"You know, Commander, I think I've figured out why humans don't like Ferengi. The way I see it, humans used to be a lot like Ferengi: greedy, acquisitive, interested only in profit. We're a constant reminder of a part of your past you'd like to forget. But you're overlooking something. Humans used to be a lot worse than the Ferengi. Slavery, concentration camps, interstellar wars - we have nothing in our past that approaches that kind of barbarism. You see? We're nothing like you. We're better."

DS9 was my favorite Trek, although TNG was a close second. This was a tough poll, because I loved the entire cast of DS9.

I own season 5 on DVD... too poor for the rest (SNARL hundred dollar disc sets GROWL).
It had easily the most intricate storytelling. The Dominion War storyline over the past 2 1/2 years blew me away. "In the Pale Moonlight" is one of my favorite episodes, dealing with the "ends justify the means" moral quandary of war. Damn, it's been a while since I've reminisced about DS9... nice to meet another junkie :)

and watching them nowadays, there is a haunting parallel between current events, and events depicted in the show... Bajoran resistance, Cardassian occupation, etc...
we are the Cardassians, and it's hard to sleep at night knowing that

DS9 is my favorite Trek series, with TNG coming in a close close close second. I loved the entire cast. Odo was awesome. The storyline was so dark and involved, the Dominion War story arc was perhaps the most well written story ever in TV history.
I loved Gul Dukat the best though. He was the nemesis, but you had to sympathize with his struggle and emotions. I must get the episodes on DVD!

13. Dorn seemed so strong in the TNG ensemble, but he didn't do well in DS9 |
|
Odd, that. In a way, since the initial TNG characterization were relatively shallow (that first season was awful), the ensemble and dramatic interactions are what made them enjoyable later on. Strong as they were together, once pulled from that tapestry, they didn't stand so well in their own.

10. If you want a Star Trek forum Vote here |
|
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=2009848Need to get this thing going. If you want a group let me know in the thread above. I requested a star trek only group from Skinner but he thought it may be too narrow. I agree, but offered to post a tread dealing with the options. So Vote now. By the way, I like Ezri Dax, its a sexual thing.

15. I went with Garak. Off all the Trek series, DS9 had the best actors |
|
and the most complex characters. :)

I went with Garak too, but it was hard. I love Sisko, Dax, Worf, Quark, Odo, Dukat, Damar...oh, just everyone...
Oh, by the way, I met a guy the other day who looked just like Weyoun. He was very drunk, playing pool, and hitting on my friend, who he kept having to ask to move so that he wouldn't hit her with the cue. It was *weird.*
