ST. LOUIS -- The Hardee's fast food chain has rolled out its new 1,400-calorie Monster Thickburger, with 107 grams of fat.

21. It's not heart valves
You'll be needing the Roto-Rooter treatment for your arteries! That's what clogs up with plaques. These people are going to be responsible for thousands of premature deaths from circulatory disease.

5. American Gluttons
The poster above has it right, the HumVee of burgers. It is a free society, and I am certainly guilty of hedonism. But, this tendency Americans have for the extremes is troubling. 1400 Calories!!!! That is about half the daily total calories for an average sized person.

20. half??
2000 is the recommend value- and even then, that's pretty high for most non-active Americans. Heck, I only eat ~1,000 calories a day- 1,400 calories in one MEAL is insane!
Maybe this burger wouldn't be a big deal if it was the occasional treat for active adults, but I can guantee you that it is NOT going to be primarily consumed by said group.

22. Caloric requirements vary
There is no fixed recommended value. Your daily requirement depends on your current body weight, sex, age and level of activity. My requirement, to maintain my current body weight, is around 2800, hence my estimate of one half the daily requirement. Your right this would not be true for everyone.

29. Ah, why didn't they have those when I was a teenager?
When I was a teenager back in the late 90's, I had a 4000-calorie-per-day diet, and I was still skinny! I kid you not, I ate between 3000-4000 calories per day, but I just couldn't break over 150 lbs. Of course, stacking hundreds of 50-lb haybales per day burned calories like mad too.

I saw a little about it on CNN.

I eat a lot of crap, but there's even no way I could eat something that vile.

Although I did have a big plate of homemade poutine last night...

a couple years ago, some chain (may have even been Hardee's) came out with an 1850-cal burger...two patties, mushrooms, swiss cheese, bacon, the works....that only got token mention in the press, for some reason
