Is anyone else seeing MORE Bush '04 stickers?? |
|
Here in MA I was seeing about 1 Bush/Cheney sticker per week before the election.
Now I'm spying 2-3 per day. Has anyone else noticed this?

8. I'm leaving my Kerry sticker on my bumper... |
|
...as long as I can before it fades into oblivion. I'm PROUD
of who I voted for, and as soon as I find a "Don't blame
me!" sticker, I'll stick it on as well.

15. There's a reason for that...a damn good one, too.... |
|
I heard from many W. supporters that they were afraid to put Bush/Cheney stickers on their cars, for fear of vandalism. A lot of people heard stories (real or exaggerated) of pro-Bush cars being keyed, windows broken, etc. Perhaps they were just convinced by the almost daily reports in the last three weeks of the juvenile delinquent acts perpetrated by so many avid Kerry fans: Storming BC04 headquarters in FL and WI, stealing BC04 campaign office computers in Seattle, bullets fired into a campaign office in TN, and of course, the litany of torn up, stolen, and even urinated-on pro-Bush yard signs. Hell, can you blame them? How many news stories did you see about a group of College Republicans engaged in drive-by shootings at Kerry's offices, vandalizing and stealing from innocent Democratic voters?
You may call them cowards, but there is a difference between honest risk-assessment and cowardice; I tend to think they are fairly sensible for avoiding flamboyant displays of Republicanism on their unprotected vehicles. After all, is there a real upside to having it on the car that justifies the risk? How many people are swayed in their politics by viewing a bumper sticker? It's not an election-changing act. They didn't need to advertise to the world their vote...they just needed to go and vote, period. Evidently, there were a lot of them.
If they are feeling more confident now, it's because the Democrat's rapid anger and hatred of anything Bush has been tempered somewhat by melancholoy and depression following Kerry's defeat. THe emotional climax is over, and they feel safe once again to publicly profess their politics without fear from thugs and vandals.

18. Well, if that's so, then how do you explain |
|
that phenomenon here in Idaho? This state is among the reddest states there are in this nation. It is overwhelmingly conservative and supportive of Bush. I can't imagine anyone here having been "afraid" to display Bush paraphernalia (indeed, *I* was afraid to display Kerry goods!), so to what should I attribute the rash of new stickers I'm seeing? Although it is possible that I'm just noticing them more now, I doubt that's the case. I was supersensitive to political stickers during the campaign and always on the lookout for them.

You might actually learn something. There are hundreds of cases of Kerry signs being stolen, cars being vandalized for having Kerry stickers, Democratic offices being burglarized, etc.
Hell, it was so rampant that your Republican brethren would even manhandle people wearing T-shirts critical of Bush.
I suggest heavy doses of wake the fuck up, followed by intermittent sessions of reality.

When I worked the Dem/Kerry booth at the fair, some Kerry supporters said they were reluctant to put up Kerry yard signs because their Repub neighbors would put rocks through their windows. So who you gonna believe? Hint: The Dems aren't the vindictive sons-of-bitches.

1) Your just noticing them more now. It's because it hurts and your sensitive to it.
2) The "bandwagon" effect. It has ALWAYS been the case that polls taken AFTER the winner is known show more people claiming they voted for him than actually did. You might have missed it, but a few of the polls late in this election cycle asked "who did you vote for in 2000". Bush would have actually won by 3-4% if people were telling the truth.

Since I live in Kansas. But I do seem to see more. I still see Kerry Edwards stickers, I took mine off only because I intended to take my off no matter the outcome, because I don't like putting stickers on my car. For me to put the Kerry Edwards stickers on my car was a big deal, and I had 3; one in the front where a front plate would be that was the standard Kerry Edwards, one on the back window that read "It's up to the Women... KE" and one on the rear bumper also an Up to the women.

I am not a slow driver-I would say of the non-Canadian cars that flew by me, 75% had W stickers on them.
