Balance my cheque book?

I'd be lucky to find my cheque book. The last time a wrote anything in the register was about 1994.

I am compulsive about my checkbook - I go online every day and balance it. I will spend three hours trying to figure out why I am a penny off. I will never round up or down.

I used to work for a friend who was a vet - in her three years of practice, she had NEVER balanced her business checkbook. I couldn't take it - I spent about a week digging out all the old statements and meticulously balancing it down to the penny. Found $2000 she didn't know she had. Got a nice tip.

It's funny how people seem to be either completely careless about it or overly obsessive.
