23. I had to get a death certificate |
|
when I registered my car, because the dealer apparently got it from an estate sale. It was pretty weird man, I went to get it registered and the lady at the counter was all, "well where is Mr. so and so is, what happened to him?"

An estate sale can be the entire contents of a home/garage. Often antique dealers and art collectors will show up to purchase anything of interest to them. They are a great place to find really nice used furniture and appliances. Newspaper ads usually give a sample of what is available.
I'm a firm believer in buying quality older furniture/tools in great shape.

If you have time to go, it can be a great place to find all kinds of stuff. I once paid $50 for a small bronze statue at an estate sale(bought it simply because I liked it) - it's now appraised at $2,500. Frequently estate sales are worth the time and money spent. It's a never-ending pastime here in Richmond.

If you like vintage, sometimes you can find alot of really cool stuff. The saddest are when you see what little somebody had after working for 50 years. I always try to make estate sales, it's kind of like getting a glimpse of history through somebody else's eyes.
