8. Hurricanes can be way cool....

When I was 15, Hurricane Belle passed directly over my house on Long Island. I was very excited for the day leading up to it, and during the worst of it, my brother and I sat outside in the car and watched it. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Later, looking out a window, we saw my neighbors shed, which was bolted to concrete, fly over out 6' fence. Awesome.

The eye passed directly over us. Unbelievable. Calm, cool, quiet, could see stars in the sky. Beautiful. But then the whole damn thing started up again. It was great.

That being said, I hope everybody in its path stays safe.
