AL-Jazeera what are your opinions?
The US media loves to bash it. What's your opinion?

5. Who is entitled to an opinion on Al Jazeera?
Hardly anyone has actually SEEN their stuff. Having watched "Control Room", it appears to have a stronger interest in journalism than Fox. Although I did notice one of their anchors was just as slimey and unprincipled as a Foxbot. He seemed to be the exception rather than the rule, however.

I work in media. I have satellite, cable, a fat T3 line, and other things (print, SW radio, etc.) at my disposal to satiate my interest in whats going on in the world. My satellite gear is way beyond prosumer level, and it's "tweaked" by a friend who works as a sat. technician at a local TV station. (That's all I'll say, for fear any Canuck feds are reading this.)

I too, feel sorry for Americans (even "Libs" at this very forum) who slag it, when we KNOW 95% of them have never even seen it. "Sheeple Libs"? As a lib DUer from Canada, I'm not supposed to even ENTERTAIN the possibility, but I'm afraid here is a case where I most certainly do.

I'm not even going to get into it here - there's no point in debating something Americans know nothing about - but I will say this: it's the most professional, reliable source for news and opinion in the Arab world. Ya, news and OPINION. If you want to discount that, well that's your freakin' problem.

My favourite quote from an Al Jazeera staffer, regarding AJ vs. US media: "You show the bombs being launched, we show em' landing." Bravo.

And by the way, I'm intelligent enough to filter my own news - ALL OF IT, US, Canadian, Euro or Arab - so don't even go there.

Hey, ROOBOY...the sleaze ball in "The Control Room"? How's that for "balance"!!!

Americans: The only way I'll even debate this issue is if, first, you can answer me this one question: WHATS ON AL JAZEERA TONIGHT? OR SPECIFICALLY, RIGHT NOW? Then, I'd be happy to take it from there.

edit: my poor spelling.

8. They're the opposite of FOX, kind of.......
they are way more honest about world issues, but instead of hiding stuff, like U.S. MSM, they add stuff, they just put dead kids on whenever they show U.S. soldiers or something

Oh wait, you mean the news outlet. Well its hard to find any news outlet that is not slanted nowdays. But it gives pretty accurate news as far as it goes, I guess.

11. Their English website is quite interesting...
I wouldn't call it objective, but it is informative and does usually give all major sides of an issue.

That's the only part of Al-Jazeera with which I'm familiar.
