I taught the weeping willow how to cry...
And I showed the clouds how to cover up a clear blue sky

1. But the tears I cried for that woman
they'll flood you, big river

and I'll just sit right here until I die.

4. I love his Live at Madison Square Garden show from 1969
I was so glad when they released that on CD. June's not on it because she was getting ready to give birth to John Jr., but Mother Maybelle, Helen and Anita do a couple of old Carter Family songs. Carl Perkins and the Statler Brothers are on it too. Johnny's commentary is, as always, dead on. Man, I miss that guy.

5. Well I met her accidentally down in St. Paul, Minnesota
It tore me up each time I heard her call that southern drawl
Well I heard my dream went back downstream, cavortin' in Davenport,
And I followed you big river when you called

6. You took me to St. Louis later on, down the river
And a freighter said "She's been here
But she's gone, boy, she's gone."

He was the King Of Rock And Roll.
