Know anything about cats?
We have a kitten that is in bad shape. She started moving her head around and being able to walk without falling over. Seems like a nuralogical disorder, but we can't figure it out. She knows us and can see. She has been tested for FIV and distemper and came back negative. She eats good (you have to kind of hold her head so she is stable) She doesn't do this when she sleeps and there are times when she stops moving and twiching, but not very many. This has been going on since Friday and she is still at the Vets. I gave her a vaccine about 2 weeks ago and she also is an outside cat(my son is allergic) Any suggestions?

1. Ask your vet about vestibular syndrome
It's an infection in the inner ear, and sometimes it just "happens" without a cause. In that sort of case, they say it is "idiopathic."

Look at the kitten's eyes--if they race from side to side, it's called nystagmus, and is a sign of vestibular syndrome. It's not terminal--one of mine had it when she was very young, and is now going into her 10th year.

Other signs include cocking the head to one side, keeping the head down, as though it is limp, and staggering around.

Google "vestibular syndrome" cats, and you should get some good information.

2. I thought it might be that
The vet said her ears looked fine, but if it is inner ear she might not see it. She is getting antibiotics now. The head movement seems more like an uncontrolable twitch though. I do hope she gets over this. She is a long haired white cat with blue eyes, her tail and ears are tan. She also loves to be held and petted.

3. White cats with blue eyes
White cats with both eyes blue are often deaf. Have your vet check for this.

and kind of tested her at home by making noises. She reacted to the noises, so is not deaf.

5. Poor little sweetheart
I've got nothing to add except my sympathy. Poor little baby.
