A question about blocked sites at work
Not for me, thank gawd... Redqueen can't access DU, but can access all the other sites she normally visits. So what she needs to know is this.... what happens when your employer blocks a site? Does the site not load at all? Does it load extremely slowly and just never finish? Or do you get a message that this site is blocked?

DU is obviously fine, so she's wondering if her employer put a block on DU. Anyone have experience with this?

2. I think it was probably the profanity
...my husband's company refuses access to any sites with profanity, or any emails with profanity. Ironically, he works for a urology company and they have to use terms for anatomy quite often. They have had to come up with a code. Pretty funny.

3. It depends on the method being used to block.
Typically you see a page saying, "This site is blocked! You bad worker, you!". Alternatively, the site could simply refuse to load.

If DU is loading at all, it hasn't been blocked by her employer. Web filters either block a site or don't block it; they don't make it load slowly.

4. google democraticunderground and select the cached link
that always bypasses filters.

Hey Skinner, can you set up an innocuous pointer domain? How about www.AuntiePinkosKids.com or something

6. That would not work with Websense or ANY of the major
site blocking software products.

5. It will come up with an error message.
Otherwise her work's firewall/server is probably just slow today.
