2. They have to merge in order to survive.
Only way they can survive is to merge and leverage their suppliers to cut costs.

6. Sears bought
A very large hardware store here a few years ago, and just ruined it. All the clerks of different departments, that knew what they were doing, are gone.

Before it was sears, we bought all our plumbing parts there. You could tell the clerk your project, and measurements, and he knew just what you needed.

Now they don't pay well, and you can sure tell it by the customer service.

10. Sears bought the Orchard near me
and they seem better than they were before, more clerks and better informed since Sears took over and more customers. I have gone into Orchard and been asked each time by no less than three clerks if I need help, maybe it depends on the location as to how the service is.

It was an Orchard in my town also. Be funny if we are talking about the same store. I quit going there a couple years ago.

13. Yes indeed folks! It's the new 'merican way!
The ultimate race to the bottom! How far down can we go? Is it possible to cut wages & benefits to the point where homeless people will work for free just to get in out of the cold?....... Now THAT would be repuke heaven on earth!
