Help, I am so tired I cannot even think straight let alone work. |
|
I cannot go home for another half an hour. I only got a few hours of sleep last night & now it is catching up with me.

9. Nope, public transportation. |
|
I can sleep on the bus, the driver knows me & will wake me at my stop.

Gas leaks are a great excuse to leave early. Just run in your bosses office putting your coat on and tell him/her that you just got a call that there might (important caveat there) be a gas leak at your house/apartment.
I have many more if you need them.

Tell them you have to go pick them up from the vet
Go a significant other? Their car is in the shop and you have to go pick them up and take them to get it and THE PLACE CLOSES AT 6! (or whatever time is needed)
I shy away from sick relatives (bad karma and all) but it has been known to work

sometimes just closing your eyes for half an hour and sitting quietly helps - don't drive when sleepy - your reactions are slower
