Pa. Man Convicted in Car-Spraying Case

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - A man was convicted of using a specially rigged system in his car to spray a family's vehicle with a chemical mixture.

Charles Lucarelli, 58, who defended himself at trial, was convicted Tuesday by a Columbia County jury of endangering a family, risking a widespread catastrophe and criminal mischief.

Lucarelli was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation prior to sentencing and will remain free under existing bail pending completion of that evaluation and background reports.

On Jan. 11, Lucarelli pulled into a truck stop and sprayed cars with a mixture of paint thinner and rubbing alcohol. Police said they found a container in the trunk rigged to spray the liquid, alongside containers of paint thinner, rubbing alcohol and ammonia.
