"Campus Christian Crusades" Ice Cream, Bibles and a Sermon |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 12:10 AM by GingerSnaps
They will be serving pizza on Friday but no mention of the bibles. Everyone knows that each slice of pizza will come with a sermon and literature.
I'm a still wondering where their expense account is coming from.
Does every College Campus have them or are they targeting Art Colleges exclusively?

4. Maybe we can learn something from this |
|
Like, work in similar ways to get our message out. Christians have done some things well over the years, like evangelizing and taking the word to others (I am a christian myself and not bashing them, just pointing out the obvious).
We were energized before the election, why not keep the energy going - not by bashing * and promoting a candidate, but by getting out a progressive message on a regular basis to people in a friendly way.

8. I've been thinking along the same lines. |

If someone would put up with a freakin' sermon for a slice of pizza, I think a little political dialogue would be like a 50% discount!

With factual information from online government sources (local and federal) where they can verify things (like pending legislation as an example) and learn more through self-discovery. Like any belief system/religion different people will see the same thing in different ways (much like we do with our constitution, bill of rights, et al).

7. Campus Crusade for Christ |
|
They actually stuck me with a roommate to try to harass me. I ended up converting HIM. After subjecting him to Anarchy in the UK and worse for weeks trying to get rid of him. I even went to his fundie church one day. They didn't like me. At all. Particularly when they sucked me into a an "abortion discussion group." Believe me, you cannot reason with these assholes.
They used to sit around the dining room in my dorm, eating "dry" pancakes to "atone" for their sins. I said, why don't you just NOT FUCKING EAT, idiots? Nope, they had to have their three meals a day but had to feel like they were depriving themselves. Smug fat fucks.
Then I found out they were using the campus facilities at no charge for their meetings. So I started the Church of the White Light and the White Heat. Velvet Underground fans will get what comes next. Our slogan was "Opium is the opium of the masses" and we had open Bible hoots and faked raising money for mass heroin purchases, contending that it brought us closer to god. Hahahaha, they threw us out, but they threw out CCC too. Which was my point.
Smirky's fat queenie buddy Karl was an organizer for them, btw. I doubt he was a fundie, but he saw a useful gang of idiots.

They remind me of the horror movie with the blonde kids that had white eyes.

12. *shudder* it's not just art colleges, CCC is everywhere |
|
I used to belong to the chapter at my college back when I was a fundie (a whole 2.5 years ago), and believe me, it's scary. They even do a thing called Big Break where they spend spring break down in places like Daytona Beach, "witnessing" to more traditional (drunken and partying) Spring Breakers about how much they need Jesus in their lives.

They got laughed off my campus. But then again, my school was known as the "Little Red Schoolhouse" back in the '50s...and things haven't changed much. :P

15. No, it's not just art schools. UConn has a CCC chapter itself. |
|
For the uninitiated, "CCC" means "Campus Crusade for Christ." :puke:

And ranking us No. 8 is silly, btw. My mom lives in Storrs, so I visit whenever I can, and my brother was the photographer for the local paper. There is no way they are No. 8, after losing their two best players. Who are going to be stars, but probably not like Richard Hamilton is.

16. My local junior college also has an active CCC chapter. |
|
Offer a "free lunch" (complete with sermon) every Wednesday. The guy who runs the CCC at my school has been taking one class a semester for the past 27 years so he can be considered a student and keep the CCC chapter active. Before the elections, CCC had a table in front of the book store in the student center with a "Bush/Cheney" sign next to a "College Christian" sign. At the beginning of this semester, CCC sponsored a big free burger/hot dog picnic lunch in the commons area in front of the student center, complete with musical accompaniment. Like many other students, I don't have a helluv a lot of extra spending cash, but I bypassed the long lines of people waiting for their free CCC-sponsored picnic lunch and instead spent $3.50 I don't have on a burger from the little cafe inside the student center. I have principles to uphold, ya know. Oh, yeah, Mr. Perpetual Student and his Kool-Aid drinkin' Bushbot cohorts are still maintaining their Eternal Table (complete with literature/pamphlets) in front of the bookstore and accosting students entering/leaving the store or using the ATM located directly outside the bookstore.

Do you think that he will get his degree before he goes on SS?
They have a table set up in front of our entrance to our classes.
The gourmet boxed lunch consisted of a bologna and cheese sandwich on white bread with some type of a warm mayonnaise based salad that would have given you salmonella and the runs.
Musical accompaniment "Country & Western"

I knew the guy was recruiting for the CCC, but I didn't know he had been involved with CCC for 27 years until the sponsor of our College Democrat group (a professor who has taught at the college for almost 40 years) told me about him. Seems that Mr. CCC is a bit of a legend to people who have been associated with the school for any length of time, if for no other reason than his persistence and longevity!
