I'm in the middle of one of the worst gout attacks I've ever had. I can't walk without bawling like a baby the pain is so bad. It's also accompanied by a fever that won't quit either.
This frigging happens every year as the seasons change and it grows colder, but I don't think I've ever been in as much pain as this.
Excuse me while I crawl up into a ball and die. It's bound to be less painful than this.
Oh well, at least it's another thing I have in common with Ben Franklin.
(PS. if I don't respond much to this thread, don't think I don't appreciate the good thoughts. I've just probably had to lie back down.)

5. Are there no treatments |
|
My dad had rhumatoid arthritis. I am hoping I don't end up hopping down that genetic trail.
Is there no cortizone or arthritis type pill for gout?

8. There are pills, but they've never stopped gout attacks from happening |
|
entirely. The best thing you can do is watch your diet (stay away from seafood!!!), avoid stress and try to stay really warm during the change of seasons if you live in a area that has changing seasons. Usually my pills never stop the change of seasons attack.

Toe or the side of my foot near my big toe. At least then I can limp about if I put my weight on my foot just the right way. However, this time it's hit my ankle. There's nothing you can really do about that in terms of walking. Any weight sets it off then.
There's some sort of crystal that is in seafood. My brain is too fevered to remember the name right now. But that's what primarily causes gout attacks from fish and shellfish (which are worse than fish).

Cheap and poisonous, but not as bad as Allopurinol (found out the hard way I'm highly allergic to that).

18. Gout is a nightmare... |
|
I had my yearly attack in June when my wife had to go to the hospital for a hysterectomy, and she joked that I was in more pain then she was. I literally felt like shooting my big toe off to get rid of the pain; I know how you feel.
I drank as much water as I could stand and drank a bunch of cherry juice; the enzymes in the juice are supposed to help.
