Ada adjusts clothing allowance for chief
ADA - Ada council corrected an oversight Tuesday night regarding a clothing allowance for the police chief.
Council passed the ordinance as an emergency on its first reading to amend conditions of employment for non-union employees of the village, adding language regarding the police chief’s clothing allowance.
The section of the ordinance regarding clothing allowances now includes $450 for the chief. Salaried and full-time non-office employees required to purchase and wear prescribed uniforms get a $350 allowance.
Jane Napier, Ada solicitor, said the village had budgeted for such an allowance but simply overlooked the need to clarify its allowance in an ordinance.
"It just got left out," said Napier. "We need to clarify this issue during this year."
