1. I don't feel better . . .
She isn't that much worse than I am.

If she's older than me by more than ten years, I bet she was like me at my age.

Sigh. . . .

3. My mom is like that but that house is a LOT neater
than my mom's. That was mostly in boxes, mom's stuff is in Wal-Mart bags and the like. I try to never go over there because she has to make a big fuss to find me a place to sit and it is just depressing.

12. Yup, same with my mom...
It's awful. That house is a lot cleaner and more organized than my mom's, sadly...

This woman looks like she needs some help with a shopping/bidding addiction.

6. I went through a major clutter thing after my divorce
I was depressed and working all the time and I didn't care. I had a king size bed that I shared with my four dogs and I'd just pile stuff onto it. When my head finally cleared, I cleaned it off and wrote down everything I found on it. Still have the list. This is what was there -

at least 4 loads of laundry, unfolded, because I'd wash it and just dump it on the bed, pulling out what I needed.

7 hardcover books

6 paperbacks

8 newspapers

a hammer

small wooden box containing buttons (?)

14 pieces of paper of various sorts

3 pens

a box of kleenex

1 small plate

1 pad of post-it notes

1 used printer cartridge

empty lotion bottle

2 keys

4 clothes pins

2 remote controls

1 pair of glasses that I'd been looking for for about a month

I don't know how I found room to sleep.

8. You have to wonder what happened. In the background,
behind all the clutter, it looks like it used to be a normal enough place.

10. Yeah, I was imagining what it might look like.
The counters and bookshelves etc., looked nice.

Oh well! I feel a lot better about my clutter after seeing those pics, but I am still a ways from being a minimalist.

9. That type of pack-ratitis is often neurological at base.
Partially depression based, since the collecting of goods is based in the idea that the more you have, the better prepared you will be for famine or disaster. But when it gets that compulsive - and it sounds like she's bidding at ebay for the thrill of winning, not for the actual goods - you've got an issue akin to gambling.

Unfortunately, I see lots of these houses among the chronically depressed.

11. That is so sad.
She needs to get on some meds. There is something going on and she definately needs to see a psychologist.
