Someone needs to start a "Litterbox Cleaning Service"..
I would be their FIRST CUSTOMER:)

I just changed SIX litterboxes... (I hate that chore).. If I ever had hired help that would be their MAIN job... :)

My cats are so SLOPPY.. The ^&%$#!*&^% BOY-CATS manage to piss outside the box, so I have to work extra hard cleaning up after them..

We have ceramic tile in the litterbox area, so mopping and disinfecting does the trick, but I sure with they would copy the girls..

1. My girl cat pisses outside the box
I don't think she understands that "pissing outside the box" is not on the same level as "thinking outside the box."

3. Cats that refuse to potty train should become "outside" cats. :D

5. They are "potty trained"..just sloppy..
That's why we tiled the whole area :)

I love my babies too much to endanger them .."Outside" is a cruel place :)

4. The boys dig in it like they're headed for CHINA..
They make a hole big enough to disappear into, and then they hang their behind OUTSIDE the box.. Then they spend 5 minutes covering up..NOTHING !!!!!

7. The absolutely best litter I have found is Fresh Step
clumpable. They just came out with a newer version that has even more odor crystals. It's the ONLY one that I have used that actually clumps and doesn't leak to the bottom of the boxes. I "scoop" every day or try to, but I still have those that go on the floor next to the boxes.

My friend had multiple cats - only 3 - and she used a plastic swimming pool in the basement as her litter box.

9. I have Oscar and Felix using the litter box
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 11:15 AM by Kathy in Cambridge
my black cat Reno kicks the litter all over the bathroom. he leaves his stinking feces uncovered. my white cat Noah is very dainty. he covers his poops too. they are both boys.

my girl cat Lulu (RIP) was very neat in the litter box. She was also very picky about its cleanliness.

I agree about a litterbox cleaning service. Great idea!

10. Get very large covered litter boxes
I find this keeps even my male pisser's markings inside the boxes (although I still have to clean the sides up high sometimes).

You still have to clean the boxes of course, but at least this spares the floor! (Both of mine are on carpet).

12. We cannot use the covered ones.
There are too many cats, and they like to "pay-attack" as one of them leaves the litter room..(Yes they have their own "bathroom").

I have one very timid cat (Amber), and a covered box would intimidate her too much..

13. Sometimes one of mine walks in and turns on the faucet without
checking to see if her can is in the box. She shoots it right outside the box onto the plastic, but it's still a pain in the neck to clean. :grr:

14. My two males were THE WORST until...

... one passed away this summer...

When Petey passed away, all of a sudden, the litterbox was so easy to clean... All of the problems described (going outside the box, digging for China and then covering up for ten minutes, poop just scattered EVERYWHERE in the box) in this thread just went away... I realized it wasn't both of them creating the mess, just Petey... I could not believe the difference!

Baboo is a perfect angel and cleaning the box has become no big deal...

I think cats are all different, like us... Some make a total mess in the box and others, like my precious Baboo, just does his business and runs out of there...

15. One of mine
pees in the most awful spot--away from the boxes altogether, in the front room. I throw something at her every single time she does it, but she hasn't wised up yet. (Don't worry--mostly empty pill bottles!) I don't hear her until she's scratching around for something to "cover" it, and by then it's too late. :(
