Honestly I just fore-see four more years of crap and misery.
I wish I could say I felt like the tides were turning or going to turn!

I listen to AAR here at work and read the DU like a crack addict all day and I get a sense of hope. Then I get home and turn on the tv and its business as usual in the good ol'us of a.
even john stewart hasn't mentioned anything about this thing turning around...
as someone on here said, "I hope hope is on the way!"

Especially the last bit, which clarified whether you were referring to the show or indulging your Todd fandom :hippie:

7. To justify the draft ???? |
|
Yes, in order to justify the draft our "goalie in chief" is going to let another terrorist attack slip in.
This time, it will be an Iranian passport found on top of the smoking ruins (and hardened steel black box for THAT plane won't be found either). Either that or Korea.
Deep down though, I see defenseless Cuba and wonder when they're going to invade!!! I haven't seen any provacative journalism on the subject. I haven't seen the pundits out making the case for Cuban invasion. But if we start hearing about "Cuban narco terrorists" we'll know the invasion is on.

11. Is this sort of like that feeling Richard Dreyfus got in Close Encounters?? |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 11:55 AM by Javaman
He started building devils tower in his living room and other people were drawing pictures of it? That kind of feeling or a feeling that something just has to happen because moron has fucked up this country so bad, that his tower of wooden blocks are about to fall? Or is it more like, when you are in your basement by yourself and you think someone else is down there with you, but isn't and you wind up scaring the shit out of yourself for no good reason? Or is it that, I just want to stir up some shit on DU to see if I can get a million people to respond to your post?

13. Well I wasn't happy reading Powell's comments on Iran .... |
|
although I knew before the election that they were laying the groundwork of excuses to invade Iran. It's not like lots of other countries on the planet don't have nuclear weapons. Are we invading them? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! North Korea has nukes and is a threat. China has nukes and could certainly be a threat (although they probably wouldn't attack us, because then we'd stop buying their stuff and we wouldn't pay them all the money we owe them). So what's so different about Iran? They have as much oil as Iraq, the second biggest reserve of natural gas on the planet, and we can force democracy down their throats too while we're at it.
We will get into a conflict with Iran and we'll have to have a draft to have wars going on in two countries. We will be more hated around the world than ever, and Muslim extremists will launch terrorists acts on our soil, and it will all be on Bush's watch. No one had better act surprised this time.

16. Iran would be a mistake of a far greater magnitude |
|
Iran is a hell of a lot bigger geographically and in population.
It also is ethnically and religiously more homogenous, so they couldn't try the civil war wedge tactic.
It would be at least ten times the mess Iraq is.
I think the military wouldn't put up with it.

It's on the PNAC agenda. There's an entire chapter on Iran in "Present Dangers: Crisis and Opportunity in American Foreign and Defense Policy" edited by PNAC Project Directors Robert Kagan and William Kristol and published in 2000. http://www.newamericancentury.org/publicationsreports.htm
