Hello, This is Emily Latella
What is all of this talk about a new show on TV called Desperate Houseflys? Well of course they're desperate they're about to be swatted. Couldn't they give it another name like cautious or guarded houseflys? And even if the housefly is desparate, why would you want to make a TV show about it?

2. I believe that the show is called "Desperate Housewives."
It's new on ABC. I've never seen it, but it is apparently quite racy, controversial and a big hit. I saw a news story about it. And you're being a wise-ass, aren't you?:D

12. There was a classic Emily Litella where Jane Curtain
got fed up with E.L. always getting something really, really wrong.

After JC stopped her, she pretty much read EL the riot act.

After JC finished, EL said "Oh. That's different. Never mind. . . . bitch"

So, it was not directed at you, per se.

13. I understand. Thanks for explaining!
I didn't really think that you were calling me names, but I didn't get it.

I replied to somebody, like that, on a thread once. I said "It's the economy, stupid!" Afterward, I worried that it might be taken the wrong way!:D

14. Really, check out a SNL "Best of". I think they have a Gilda Radner
one.

Roseanne Roseannadanna is also a classic character. If you ever hear someone using a nasally voice saying "It's always somethin'" - it's a tribute.

It's desperate housewives. Housewives. Not houseflies.

9. I don't get the reference to "Emily Latella,"...
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 01:05 PM by Jack Schitt
but who cares about Desperate Housewives? The only good thing about the show is that Terri Hatcher is in it. She's hot!

10. Gilda Radner played her on Saturday Night Live
She was always getting things confused. Emily and Roseanne Roseannadanna were my two favorite characters. :-)

Coulda sworn that's what you had the first time. Did you change it, or am I on drugs?

17. "What's all this I'm hearing about "endangered feces?"
was one of the good ones-- and then Jane Curtinn corrects and berates her and it always ends with her saying "Never mind"-- which then became a catchphrase.

Gawd I feel old.
