Would anybody be interested in a smoking cessation group? |
|
I know there are many past/present/future quitters here on DU. I've tried to quit smoking at least a dozen times over the past year, ranging from 7 hours to four months. I think it would be cool to have a place for quitters (snuff and chewing tobacco included) to offer support, advice, and info on kicking the habit. Who's game? :hi:

1. It's a good idea, but might not be enough |
|
You would probably benefit more from an in-person support group. FWIW.

I do see a lot of DUers posting their success/failure stories in the Lounge, so I figured any support we can get.

2. I told my kids that I would Stop |
|
After my oldest next surgery. I stopped for two and a half years this last time. It is hard I have a friend who stopped 16yrs ago and still occasionally wants one. It would be nice to be able to go somewhere, but I don't know if it would be any help.

I've stopped three times, one year each time. I so want to stop forever.
I'm now in my "cut-down" mode. Really limiting how much I smoke. I keep my cigs in the kitchen, so I have to think about the fact that I am lighting a cigarette, rather than just having them there and not thinking about doing it.

I've got 1 week without smokes now! Woo hoo.
Had it hard last night at a book signing when a anti-choice wing-nut butted in on a political conversation I was having with a guy.
Shot him down and managed not to smoke in the process.

My Achilles heel is not stress, but good times. I'm more inclined to smoke when I have little to worry about.

I'm trying to quit smoking. I'm taking Wellbutrin, but it isn't doing a bit of good.

8. As a ceased smoker, I think it would be a good idea |
|
I still want a smoke now and again. And I think any help that we can offer those who want to quit (and in quitting, you cease supporting a Very Republican Supporting entity) is valuable.
It takes practice. and people need to know it can be done.
