Actually, I want to thank all DUer's for "carrying me." This past year has not been the best for my family and me. Severe illnesses count among the factors that have contributed to a less than rosy financial picture. When I'd log onto DU and see all the gold stars of DU supporters, I felt humbled. Now, our financial situation is showing some improvement and I can send DU some green stuff! We're not out of the woods yet, but at least our paychecks aren't (entirely) spent before we get them.

Here's to DU!: the best source for news and commentary since Edward R. Murrow's CBS! :toast:


An afterthought: Remember, give me a fish and I eat for a day; teach me to fish and I might just call in "sick" the rest of the week...

I wish I could donate some money, however I only have about $5.00 in my bank account right now until next week. I've been out of work for two years and can't find work, plus my 14 year old was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and since my husband is the only one working and not bringing in that much we can't spend on extra's. Hopefully, if I get back to work I'll get my gold star.

5. Hang in there!

Last year I suffered a heart attack and was diagnosed with diabetes. I missed 5 weeks of work and a couple of paychecks, and now must factor a significant amount of money into our monthly household budget for prescription drugs.

I have health insurance through my employer but even with that, I was faced with bills and increasing debt. I don't see how the uninsured make it in this country!

But now things are beginning to look up. The same will happen to you, too! DU is a great place to come: Good, solid, knowledgeable information on the day's events, and humor to get over the rough spots!

The "spell check" is nice, too!
