FedEx just delivered my new computer...WhooHoo
I don't have a reason to plug the company, but I was gonna build my own (gamer). These people beat the price I had AND put it together for me......And delivered it in a week.

The concept there is: you start with a base unit that generally fits your needs, then you go through and upgrade or eliminate whatever you see fit. They show a running tally as you go. AWESOME.

I hope the above doesn't sound like an advertisment, I just feel like a kid on Xmas and these folks did great by me.

Now I gotta go finish rebuilding the engine on my Triumph. (One project at a time).

First off, I own and operate a computer repair company and I also build PCs out of my house for select clients.

I hate to rain on your parade and I hope you don't have problems, but
I've had to repair Ibuycomputers before that had some crazy shit happen to them. One of the motherboards exploded and in another one the power supply blew and took out the video card as well.

I think the cases they use are inferior(at least the ones I looked at 2 years ago were), and that they don't screw motherboards in as tightly as they should.

I'm glad that you're happy it got to you so fast and beat the price and I hope it goes well for you.

Just thought I would tell you about my history working on Ibuypower PC's.

Some of these California clone companies have not been as good as advertised. I see their ads in all of the industry magazines I have subscriptions to(PC magazine, Comp shopper. PC World, etc.).

Anyway, good luck. I hope you enjoy your computer. And if you ever have any problems PM me. I'll be glad to help in any way I can(for free).

3. Capacitor blew
I've had it happen on 3 or 4 IbuyPower comps I've looked at.

And I've never heard someone use MLB as an abbreviation for a mobo. It's either MOBO or MB in my book.

10. never heard main logic board?
I've been working on computers for 10 years and almost half the people I talk to call it that. Probably a regional thing.
Anyway, when I was getting my EE degree, we would always be hooking up capacitors backwards on purpose to make them explode. Fun stuff. Yeah, I was a geek.

11. It's fun to do it when you know it's coming
It's not fun to have it blow when you bought the computer for work and lost all of your legal files, as one of my customers found out in 2000.

I have heard main logic board, yes, just not the MLB abbreviation. Usually around here it's mobo or mb(mb also stands for megabyte around here(as I suspect it does everywhere), it can get confusing to customers)).

Anyway, nice talking to you.

Hahaha...Well I can hope for the best.
Thanx for the heads up and support.

And DU: If you don't hear from me for a while......

On edit...They claim to now burn it in for 48 hours before shipment.
Maybe this is a new policy instituted because of the aforementioned problems. (I hope)

5. Nope
Every reputable company does a burn in. Dell, Gateway, they all do it as far as I know.

And IBuypower did a 48 hour burn in before they shipped these to my customers too. :\

I hope yours works out good.

I was about to throw out the Compaq Pressario when i ran into

www.forum.pcmech.com/index.php?

they also have a news letter that gives you tips to tune etc..

They are really helpful at the forum on a variety of subjects.. if you are doing gaming this place is Essential.!!

I learned i could add some memory, shut down the start up crap and add a game card.. and i increased my game score at the Crimson Skies Leagues by 4X.

i don't have to wait for it to start up and i don't have to delete files and history every 5 minutes to unfreeze it... but it is maxed out at 512MB

You did the right thing... smart move

9. I got a DVD that tells how to Upgrade, repair, and speed up my computer
it also has a CD for how to build a computer....at the PCmech site they have a Tutorial with pictures...and a DVD. I got some hardware at NewEgg, they had problems and it was late, they gave me a $25 gift certificate. I have not found it difficult to do minor upgrades. I also worked at Boeing Space and Communications...building boards.

I got an older Joystick at GoodWill for $1 and took the trigger switch out of it and put it in my Saitek Evo controllers circuit board.... it keeps me out of the bars and off the street

12. A Triumph eh? Cool
I had a '72 Triumph Spitfire at one time, and probably will have one again. Only thing I don't like about European sports cars is having to tune and adjust the dual carbs every time the seasons change. Other than that, Triumphs kick ass. Have fun, right now I'm rebuilding some old American iron, a '49 Desoto.
