It took me a good ten seconds to figure out the final word in your statement, and I'm a fantastic reader. The fact is, if a word is arranged in a bizarre way, or is a not-so-common word, the reader won't be able to immediately read it.
There's a lot more to this than the Cambridge researchers want there to be.
