Goin' down the road feelin' bad.

Goin' down the road feelin' bad.
Goin' down the road feelin' bad.
I don't want to be treated this a way.

Goin' where the climate suits my clothes.
Goin' where the climate suits my clothes.
Goin' where the climate suits my clothes.
I don't want to be treated this a way.

Goin' down the road feelin' bad.
Goin' down the road feelin' bad.
Goin' down the road feelin' bad.
I don't want to be treated this a way.

Goin' where the water tastes like wine.
Goin' where the water tastes like wine.
Goin' where the water tastes like wine.
I don't want to be treated this a way.

Goin' down the road feelin' bad.
Goin' down the road feelin' bad.
Goin' down the road feelin' bad.
I don't want to be treated this a way.

Goin' where the chilly winds don't blow.
Goin' where the chilly winds don't blow.
Goin' where those chilly winds don't blow.
I don't want to be treated this a way.

2. What do you think prompted the post? :)
I actually got it last Friday, but haven't had time to really watch it yet.

The new sound mix is awesome. They did a great job of remastering it.

Woohooo for Donna :)

7. Yep the new mix is fantastic.
I love the whole dvd format b/c of that sort of thing: stereo, Garcia's original 5.1, new 5.1. It all kicks ass.

And whoo hoo fer Donna Jean. Singing fine. Laying back. And as much as anything, I like watching Weir work in the jams. Somehow seeing it brings out the sheer harmonic and rhythmic complexity of what he's "thinking" better than just listening for me.

Keep on dancin through the daylight, ETA

3. "Going where the climate suits my clothes"
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 08:39 PM by Godlesscommieprevert
Who used that line first?

I remember it from The Hary Nillsen song from Midnight Cowboy in 1969 (?)
When did the GD song come out?

4. The original song was by Woody Guthrie.
I believe it was originally written and recorded in the 30's.

8. The Doc Watson version:
Oh, it's going down the road feeling bad
Bad luck's all I've ever had
Going down the road feeling bad, Lord, Lord
And I aint' a-gonna be treated this a-way

Got me way down in jail on my knees
This old jailer he sure is hrd to please
Feed me corn, bread and peas, Lord, Lord
And I ain't gonna be treated this a-way

(break)

Sweet mama, won't you buy me no shoes
Lord, she's left me with these lonesome jailhouse blues
My sweet mama won't buy me no shoes, Lord, Lord
And I ain't a-gonna be treated this a-way

And these two-dollar shoes they hurt my feet
The jailer won't gi'me enough to eat
Lord, these two-dollar shoes they hurt my feet, Lord, Lord
And I ain't a-gonna be treated this a-way

(break)

I'm going where the climate suits my clothes
Lord, I'm going where these chilly winds never blow (hmmhmm)
Going where the climate suits my clothes, Lord, Lord
And I ain't a-gonna be treated this a-way

Yes, I'm going down the road feeling bad, Lord, Lord
Lord, I'm going down this road feeling bad
Bad luck is all I've ever had (it sure is)
And I ain't a-gonna be treated this a-way
