2. It's a lighthearted show that kids and adults can enjoy
I mean, yeah, it's silly as heck- but that's why I like it. After a long day filled with depressing things, Spongebob is nice to watch.

8. My kids love it...
... ages 3 and 20 months. Plus there is some stuff in there for adults... examples: SB says to Mrs. Puff (driving instructor who hates SB) 'See you next Tuesday!'* SB sprays Patrick with invisible spray and makes a hole in his stomach and where his genitalia ought to be, and says 'No guts no glory!'.

* let me know if you don't get this one! ;-)

10. Daughter sitting next to me watching it right now
My husband screened it and said it was ok for our five-year-old (we're not overly conservative about what she sees or hears, but man, there is some really crappy stuff out there).

Anyway, I didn't watch it with my daughter for a long time, it just SOUNDED so silly, but when I finally did, I found it pretty funny.

11. My mom thought he was a piece of cheese...hahahahah
my kids love the cartoon...so when they go over to their grandma's house they watch it... One day she asked me..."what is this piece of cheese doing living under water?"
My husband and I were rolling on the floor laughing....

It is a cute cartoon...

14. Try getting high... then watch. You'll love it. *wink*
Seriously, though... It is really funny, but you do have to be in a light-hearted mood to watch it. It is a different sort of cartoon. And, I think that that is part of its appeal.

19. Jimmy Neutron is better, IMOP
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 10:04 PM by Atlas Mugged
I started watching Spongebob to see what the frenzy is all about and, while it can be funny, it's not all THAT great. Jimmy Neutron is well written and can be hilarious. HOWEVER - I'm totally hung up on 'The Angry Beavers'. I've always avoided this one because of the name (c'mon, it's so obvious) but now I'm hooked. As far as adult cultural references are concerned, The Angry Beavers is amazing. They actually did a takeoff on 'Un Chien Andalou' ("avec Johnny Depp!") that was one of the funniest things I've seen on TV since the first season of 'Saturday Night Live'.

20. Jimmy Neutron is hilarious, many jokes for the adults in there
usually at the expense of the republicans. And Dagg and Norbert?? Love them and their lickety split log.

16. SpongeBob SquarePants - maybe I should tune in..
I have to admit, I've never watched it, but some of my 5 year old students like him. Today we had a parade for National Book Week, and one of the fifth grade classes chose Sponge Bob for their theme.

My kindergarten students recited the entire story of The Z was Zapped (A play in twenty-six acts). I love that book.

17. Very big deal
to my youngest daughter at least. She is severely disabled, cannot speak, but she sure does love that silly cartoon! My older kids (both teenagers) think it's funny too.

18. Spongebob and friends are a riot
I think the show is very funny and clever.

If you don't like it, try to watch again. But this time make sure you're stoned while watching.

I prefer Family Guy, but Sponge Bob sure beats the news these days.
