I've heard too many times that Democrats on DU and who actively go to rallies and protests and whatnot are a bunch of lily-white elitists who bring in the darker folks once every four years. Those same wankers tell me that Republicans are the party of inclusive-ness because they don't play the race card...ie judges and cabinet :eyes:

Apparently Dems like Kerry and Dean are bashed since they have almost no minorities in their staffs...in New England! Bill Clinton is a notable exception since he was our nation's first black president, he just happened to look white!

So are y'all a bunch of cream cheese on wonder bread or are there some non-whites out there?

I've had many Turkish friends back in Holland, in a city called "Arnhem" where the big WWII battle on which the "Bridge too Far" movie was based.
As a matter of fact, the movie was filmed in Nijmegen, a city bordering Arnhem; using that city because the big arching bridge in that city was similar to the one still in Arnhem, but less busy traffic-wise, and I even saw the planes fly over that they would use in the movie when they were filming on location in summer of 1976, when I was 14! That was so cool!
My best friend growing up was a Turkish girl named Fatimana. She told me her name is very common in Turkey. Bright, sweet girl.
There are many Turkish and Morocans in Arnhem. Many!
My first two boyfriends in that time were Turks! Both named...Ali. :toast:

I was slightly ill for several years, and because of the lack of outdoor activity, I was, well pale for all that time. Then we moved into our present community, I made (a very few) friends. In time I got healthier and spent longer times outdoors and eventually got back my normal color. Well, I hadn't seen my neighbors in a while and when I went to visit, it took them a while to adjust to the new me. The husband, God bless him, even asked me if it was my normal color.

We managed to stay friends anyways. (BTW, I'm hispanic)

Well, I'm Korean -- I was born in S. Korea and adopted as an infant. My parents are Irish and Norwegian, and I grew up in a farming town in northeast Iowa. My facial features are almost *stereotypically* Korean. However, I have no Korean "cultural identity", as it were. Sometimes people are disappointed at how un-ethnic I am.
