Anyone know any free online "de-bugger"?
I am having issues with the 'puter.

Keep getting error messages. And moments of annoying lag. Started about 2 days ago. Ran Spybot S&D. Disc Cleanup. Defrag. Norton scan. Still getting these errors.

Anybody know of any FREE online software that would run a diagnostic? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Buddy

3. I'm having similar problems.
Been on the phone with Dell for hours. Did disk clean up, deleted files. He had me download hijackthis and went though it to delete stuff, deleted cookies and history. Been doing this since last Saturday. Only Outlook is unaffected. He mentioned the dreaded reformat word. Whatever I do lasts about 10 minutes. In your task manager is the CPU spiking from 0-100?

I have a laptop so at least I have another way to get on here and read other places but I can't use all my programs on this.

5. Good luck
Let us know what helped. I dread another 90 minutes on the phone to accomplish nothing. Hope something works out for you. Do you have spybot? I tried that and it came up clean. Norton too.

Did you install SP2? I didn't know it but it had downloaded without my knowledge. I don't know when or if that is what started the problems.

7. I don't know what SP2 is...
but i'm downloading HouseCall right now.

I think it may be with ESPNmotion. Although I've had it for months with no problems...the SOME of the error messages have brought up ESPN files. It says that it can't save the files. But I think my computer deleted some folders it needed. It went to a hardcore scandisk in a blue screen when I started yesterday (XP) and found errors...and automatically deleted the errors. But today I'm still getting weird messages...and occasional long and annoying lags.

I wish the error messages would come up again...I would post them. But its been running fine for the last couple of hours.

8. Its too bad we don't have a "Tech Forum"....
I know we have lots of IT people here.

If I had the extra cash...I just take it in. But when I've gone that route...they've usually done more harm then good...and I've dropped a bunch of clams.

We should start a push for a Tech Forum. By Dems...for Dems. I'd even love to have some online IT chats. Empower...US.

9. First of all....dl'd HouseCall
but the "scan" button doesn't come up in "my computer" like its suppose to.

SO...I restarted...got a blip of a blue screen before it completely shut down. Upon reboot...I got this:

The system has recovered from a serious error.

The error signature was as follows:
BCCode : 77 BCP1 : 00000001 BCP2 : 00000000 BCP3 : 00000000
BCP4 : F7BB495C OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 768_1

The "technical information about the error report" said the following:

C:\DOCUME~1\TIMFLA~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERbb3c.dir00\Mini111804-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\TIMFLA~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERbb3c.dir00\sysdata.xml

Can ANYONE decipher this stuff for me?

11. I just downloaded Ace Utilities
It was very highly rated by users at Download.com. Free to try for 30 days. It removes junk files, cleans up your registry and erases your history, among many other things. I can't say for sure that this will help you (heck, I can't say whether it helped me) but it may be worth a try. It certainly cleared out a lot of stuff.

12. It might have cleared out a bunch off stuff..
But it might put in something worse. I can't say for sure.

Windows security is getting tricky. Some programs that claim to help can make things worse. Apparently, you can make more money fucking up computers then you can with fixing them. My advice is to back-up anything important NOW. Prepare for a reformat and reinstall. It is bound to happen.

And what I use to keep my PC running.

--ZoneAlarm
--AVG anti-virus
--AdAware
--Windows Update every Friday
--FireFox instead of IE.
--ThunderBird instead of Outlook.

All of the above have kept things clean. And don't open unknown e-mail attachments. Make sure they are personal. Only open ones that contain info someone should know. Like "Some pics from the party last Saturday." It is easy to spoof a e-mail address.

14. I don't open unknown e-mail attachments.
I delete them immediately.

Truthfully...my problems didn't start happening until MS issued their stupid friggin XP security update...and that AWFUL firewall. I had a HORRIBLE feeling when I was downloading it. It may not be the update...but "all signs point to yes."

MS is just here to f*%& us all.

15. Congrats on 200th post. I'd recommend starting a new thread
regarding the XP firewall you mention above. I'm pretty sure that savvy users have posted several times on how to disable it, but not being an XP user myself, I have little insight to offer personally.
