It's 3am, somehow I have to keep myself awake.
I'm at work (worked 6 hours at first job yesterday, got to sleep for 3 hours, went to second job and worked three hours, came back to first job at 11pm last night and have to stay until 9:30 AM), listening to the new Eminem CD (which, btw, I reallly like), and I'm trying everything in my power to stay awake.

Hrm. Help folks.

3. You could do like me
I drink a 2 liter of diet coke to stay alert at my job. I'm a trucker by the way and caffiene is one of the tools of the trade. So are cigarettes.

11. I just got a terrible headache...
and can't sleep. I was drained out from the elections and the heatbreak of Kerry losing to that idiot bush. I'm the only Democrat in my family so you can imagine my frustration and I just wanted the whole damn thing over. I felt very lonely and as if I was in the wrong family. My well educated family have become openly racists and insane.

Also, my daughter called me up with a stupid personal problem which she created for herself for the second time. I think my adult children have turned into the famous Menendez children.

13. Okay. Do me a favor.
Well, do yourself a favor, BREATHE.

It's 3am, the world's problems aren't going to be solved right now. Take some medicine, try to put things out of your mind, and try to relax. Trust me, things could be worse. You and your daughter are not in Iraq.

21. Thanks.
Took medicine and ate crackers to help my stomach. Today I had it out with a guy showing off his I Support the Troops sign on his car. I told him the best way for you to support the troops would be to sign up and go fight, that's real support. And maybe my step son can come home to his wife and 4 children. The guy said, I pray for the troops, that's how I support them and besides, I'm getting ready to go on my one year mission to Mexico. I yelled back, hey the action is in Iraq not Mexico. Those little yella cowardly signs are getting to me.

15. I do night checks in an assisted living facility.
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 03:32 AM by Cobalt Violet
I just open the door of the residents apartments at night to make sure they haven't fallen and can't get up, or turned the water on and left it running all night. Stuff like that. 2 hr. checks.

16. Nice!
I work for a homehealth/hospice agency so I get to have people calling screaming and crying because their loved ones have passed away. :(

Maybe I'll just plan my trip to Boston. That sounds much better!

17. That must be tough.
Family members can be very difficult to deal with. It must be even worse in the hospice setting.

19. It's not easy.
But some of the families take it easier than others. I mean, they know they have to be prepared, though it's still going to be a shock. It's definitely an experience in itself. But I couldn't do what you do, I couldn't physically go and check on the patients. I'm too emotional and I'm sure I'd form an emotional attachment to them.

25. or you could be like the overnight nurses...
We use what is referred to as "Cheap Trucker Speed" (The otc stuff that has various names such as .357 MAGNUM, Stingers...) and Pepsi, or Mountain Dew... Or just stay really busy.... I have Certified Nurse's Aides that like to pull jokes on me too at times, so, every so often I will get "So and so pulled their feeding tube out, and Shit clean up their back, so the dressing that is on their Butt needs changed." You would be shocked how many times you hear that in a night and odder still, how much you get used to it.

26. it's three out here, you still up?
I wish I could go to sleep too. But, unfortunately, I am not getting paid to be awake, I just have insomnia.

If you are still up, maybe this will keep you up for at least a min or two longer...um....um....thinking of a good question to ask...um...

how much money would it take for you to let Oprah come to your house this very moment and broadcast the state of cleanliness you live in? No time to clean the toilet, do the dishes, sweep up dustbunnies, take out the trash, empty the litter box, etc... Right Now. Millions will see you and your home. How much $?

Me? about a million.

27. Interesting.
Hell, I'd let her come for $1000. My house is clean, with the exception of my room, but you can see most of the floor with the exception of a clothes pile. So yeah, it wouldn't take much. She can bring along a new car too. :D

28. I might hate you!
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 06:41 AM by fleabert
just kidding. I guess you didn't see Thursday's episode. WOW. A woman asked for her help, and man-o-man did she need it. More than me thank God. Dog poop everywhere, dog pee on her bed, maggots in the kitchen, rotted food filling the fridge, I could go on and on! She looked normal though, she was definitly depressed.

Mine isn't filthy, but I am a perfectionist and I wouldn't want anyone to see last night's dishes still on the counter. (along with other things I am not willing to admit) I need to be on Clean Sweep more than having someone clean up filth, I need organization and a big purge.

29. Ewww, YUCK!
I'm not sorry I missed that one! That is so WRONG! I just wonder how people can live in that. I don't get it.

A perfectionist, huh? So if someone misplaces something in your house, do you freak out? I definitely don't know what one of those is. :) I'm waaay more laid back!

30. My husband gets in secret trouble with me when he puts shit away wrong.
I know, why do I get to define what's right? Well I do, that's why! :-)

I say secret trouble because I know I am crazy-ish about it and don't want to nag. I irritates the hell out of me when he folds the towels wrong too. He also puts his keys and wallet in a different place every single day when he gets home, grrrrr. I don't know why it bothers me, but it does. I really don't tell him I am irritated because it is so irrational.

The dirty lady on O today said something I have said for years and it scared the shit out of me (scared me that I identified so much with her) She said she is a perfectionist and if she can't do it correctly or perfectly, she'd rather not do it at all. that made my head spin, because I had never heard anyone else say that except me. I am basically a lazy perfectionist!
