Bill Gates gets 4 million emails a day

The Guardian

The next time you're sifting through the mortgage offers, cheap Rolex watches or dubious business proposals from Nigeria, spare a thought for Bill Gates. The Microsoft founder is the most spammed man in the world, with 4m emails arriving in his inbox each day.

Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's chief executive, told a conference in Singapore that being the world's best-known software billionaire has its down side: "Bill receives 4m pieces of email per day, most of it spam."

The upside of the Microsoft founder's bulging inbox is that it appears to have focused his mind on the problem.

Spam is regarded as perhaps the biggest threat to the internet, with some experts putting it as high as 80% of the world's online traffic.

5. You're forgetting ...
... Bill Gates is the most evil man in the world, mainly because while all his competitors were crowing about how they were "visionaries", Bill was running and building a business.

Gates' perfidy can also be seen in his advanced hyper-telepatho-kinetic powers to command 95% of the corporate decision-makers to pledge their fealty to the DOS and Windows platforms. And they never even knew what hit them!

Granted, the Macintosh was cripped by a lofty price tag and a snob appeal that required most of its software to use Commonwealth (British) and not American spelling; and Linux/GNU was held back by another crop of developers who spent most of their free time telling each other that they were "visionaries"; but that was all Gates' fault, too.

And you should know that every time there is a major software release, Gates sends his henchmen out to kidnap one perfect blond-haired child to be sacrificed in a ghastly Satanic ceremony. Known as The Invocation of the Demon (and not "Dæmon") of St. Informaticus the Pompatus of Code by the Intermediation of API calls, these blood-letting ceremonies must be conducted during the "burn-in" period of a specially consecrated RAID server.

That's why Bill Gates gets so much e-mail. That and Match.com.
