On a big fancy pickup:

MY QUARTER HORSE CAN BEAT UP
YOUR 4TH LEVEL DRESSAGE HORSE

That's cute.

2. HEY!!!!
what if your QH IS a fourth level dressage horse??!!??? I've known a few in my time...my appendix QH made it to second level before I stopped competing and went to college...now I just ride for fun and relaxation...here is my 4 year old off the track Thoroughbred I'm recuperating (she may not be able to beat up QH's but she can outrun them, at least in distances over 1/4 mile!!):

She's actually got a pretty stocky body, more like a classic QH build, but a classic refined thoroughbred profile...and can I tell you, what a sweetheart!

13. Your horse is gorgeous!
What's her pedigree?

She looks a lot like my horse (who I sold in 1992) except he was flaxen. Same blaze - amazing. Like your Appendix QH, mine too was a lovely dressage mount. An even better jumper.

My worst two incidents involved a fat little pony (who bucked me off during a game of musical stalls) and broke my nose. I landed right on my face. CRUNCH!

The other was a Hanoverian mare who had the worst jump - no lovely bascule, it was rather jerky, irregardless of the rider...sometimes warmbloods aren't the be all and end all. Which is probably why she ended up at a riding school, and was for sale for $2000. Luckily, no broken bones, just a severe case of getting the wind knocked out of me.

I thought of buying her, and breeding her, but to be honest I couldn't afford the expense, as I already had my other horse. (she was a substitute for me in a couple of lessons while my horse was slightly sore)

That being said, I too could have been much worse off, considering all the time I'd been riding.

Lots of falls, but incredibly, I rarely got hurt, and nothing a chiropractor couldn't fix.

5. I've got a 17-hand Saddlebred that beat me up.
He panicked last November and put me head first into a wooden fence. Damn near killed me. Resulted in my first ever ambulance ride.

He was only three at the time and had sat out for 5 months recovering from surgery to remove a bone chip from his coffin joint.

He was just not ready that day and got scared and ran away with me. Knocked me off at the first fence and then ran through two more fences. He came out fine. I've got a very nice scar on my head.

That being said, he's big and beautiful.

8. ouch! sorry to hear that!
I'm amazed I haven't gotten more beaten up in all my years with horses...and I've worked with some tough ones...most memorable was this gorgeous mustang who was bought by my asshole ex-employer...his whole philosophy was "I bought the damn thing I should be able to bend it to my will until I can ride it"...well, Wyatt the mustang only let girls near him; I'm certain he was abused by men...he was a lamb tho, I could ride him bareback with a leadrope and halter...one day asshole ex-employer got fed up and tried to get on him again! Well, he insisted on putting his $4,000 silver tooled western saddle on him, but neglected to cinch it tightly enough...SO foot in the stirrup, Wyatt takes off at full gallop, ex-employer gets dragged about a half mile!! He only sprained and ankle (the ex-boss, NOT the horse!) and got some bruises and scrapes, so I can laugh heartily at the incident and look back with fond memories of that horse!

11. I've fallen off of other horses but that's the first time I got hurt
I'm fine now. He doesn't trust me so my significant other is going to be the one riding him. I like watching him though. If they ever get around to updating the gallery on DU, the photo I submitted is of my horse and me.

We've had him since he was 3 months old and we were there the night he was born. My sig. other decided she had to have him right then and there.

Here's his website, if you're interested:

http://home.earthlink.net/~dbaker3/rodeohome.htm

It has all kinds of pictures of him.
