State your guilty pleasures
one that you don't necessarily advertise...but make life (particularly these days living under a facist regime) more palatable. Mine are: Rollos, true crime paperbacks (don't tell my highbrow Book Club), CSI, DVDs of old TV shows from NetFlix (currently on a Homicide binge), buying inexpensive lipstick, and weekend naps. Pretty exciting.
Divulge yours. Maybe the rest of us will pickup a few more ways to ease the pain.

21. Paul WInfield's
narration on City Confidential (another of my guilty pleasures) is just too wild. Totally over the top. I love it!

2. I used to be really into true crime paperbacks.
I didn't really like the ones about brutal murders and stuff; I was more into the ones about stuff like organized crime and rackets, especially coke smuggling and dealing.

12. LOL
I used to read Regency romances - Georgette Heyer. I discovered her in high school and they were fun reads and light. How funny, I forgot to put that on my list. It's been a while.

Also sci-fi movies from the 50s and 60s.

8. Like Wallace Shawn, I'm really a low-brow at heart.
This of course assumes the lead character in The Designated Mourner is somewhat autobiographical. I have a feeling it is.

Anyhoo, on to my low-brow, guilty pleasures:

1. Fear Factor (And a few other bad TV shows)
2. Porn
3. Collecting Hello Kitty stuff. (I'm wearing Hello Kitty underwear right now and it makes me feel good.)
4. Baby Ruth bars
5. Playing Word Whomp at Pogo.com

:)

10. Garage Sales & Consignment Stores
I love buying other folk's junk. LOL!! Sounds sad, but I'm absolutely serious.

I love getting old, solid wood furniture and refinishing it... finding bags of old jewelry... all kinds of stuff.

My favorite thing is buying shirts, pants, dresses, etc. for a quarter or less. Then, when my crazy kids drip red popsicle on them, I just throw them away or cut them up for rags. No guilt.
