Please provide age ranges if possible - the ages on the box are silly!

One of my favorites is Hullabaloo (game) It teaches kids shapes and colors. The game moves quickly and has lots of winners! It says ages four and up, but I would say a kid close to age three can easily play.

Any other suggestions? I hate wasting my money.

Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 03:11 PM by ET Awful
I'd say it's pretty decent for any age after 5 or so.

edit: sorry, forgot to post a link http://www.hasbro.com/jenga/

8. I love playing Battleship with my hubby
He's so orderly and precise - once I get one hit, I can figure out where all his ships are. He's very predictable.

10. I still like Scrabble
I started playing it with my daughter when she was 9, it really helped her spelling.

We use a handicap method - she gets 8 letters and only has to score 100 points to win. I get 7 letters and have to score 300. You can adjust the handicap scores as they get better.

12. I always give books
I make sure they are magical and special. For younger kids, beautiful illustrations, pop ups and interactive ones are always a hit. For the older ones, I like to stick to classics, making sure they are nicely bound and packaged.

14. Log!
What rolls down stairs
Alone or in pairs
Rolls over your neighbor's dog.
What's great for a snack
And fits on your back
It's log, log, log!

It's log, log,
It's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's log, log,
It's better than bad, it's good.

Everyone wants a log,
You're gonna love it, log
Come on and get your log,
Everyone needs a log...

BY BLAMMO!

19. One stop shopping for game info:
www.boardgamegeek.com

And no, I'm not affiliated. But there is oodles and oodles of information here about games for every age of player. Many of the games discussed are too complicated for youngsters, but if you click around a bit, there's ample talk of games for the grade-school set.
