I really need to get off this computer and go build a fire but instead I'm wrapped in a blanket shivering on my computer chair.
Somebody tell me I'm an idiot please!

It's 80 degrees outside. I'm in denim shorts and bare feet. Are you crazy?

I have two forms of heat in my house. An electric space heater that uses a lot of energy and a wood stove. I prefer the wood stove. I've always used one and I love the way it heats the place.
It's a tiny stove, though, so we use those Duraflame logs and sometimes they're a bitch to get going. Rather than mess with it in the other room, I'm sitting her in the office freezing.
Like an idiot.

I thought duraflames weren't good for woodstoves, as they clog up the flue?
I've been in a house that used a wood stove as a booster for the heat put out by the furnace. Made things pretty toasty. I assume you'll eventualy need to light it for overnight warmth? Any reason to not light it right now?

Oh, you already are. Anyway, I was when I first moved here. Always thought of California as sort of a Baywatch type of place, always sunny and warm. The truth is, here in the Bay Area, the weather can vary incredibly within just a few miles.
There are some pretty high mountains for one thing and the air comes down the coast from Alaska sometimes and really makes it damp and chilly. I'm far enough into the mountains for it to be cold but if I drove 20 minutes, I'd hit San Jose which is probably mild and warm right now.
San Francisco can be very cold when the fog rolls in off the ocean.
