Worst gig you ever attended? |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 03:58 PM by Wat_Tyler
There isn't a spectacular one, but there are five sucky ones - Credit to the Nation (long forgotten UK hiphop outfit) Suede - Really sucky live, post-Bernard. Placebo / Stabbing Westwards - rubbish sub-goth nonsense - god knows how I got roped into that. The Proclaimers - again, don't know why. Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden, solo - yeah, really.

3. Spin Doctors and Counting Crows. |

Not together. The single two worst shows I've ever seen. Bands who can't play their own songs and singers who can't sing their own lyrics.

That's the worst one I remember. What was I thinking? (Probably checking out Suzi's leathers.)

More attitude than music. Very surprised and disappointed. I had seen her before and enjoyed the show. Don't know what happened the second time around.

He was over an hour late and stoned out of his mind. Lousy experience.

11. Norm MacDonald and also Van Morrison |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 04:19 PM by Patiod
at Phila College of Textile (now Phila Univ). He was 1 1/2 late, claimed to have been in a car accident, he pretty much just started cursing a lot - you could smell the flop sweat from the far back of the auditorium. Fortunately, tickets were only like $10, and it was so bad it was almost worth it.
<edit> Also saw Van Morrison at Penn State, he was so stoned/drunk for the first couple of songs he was pretty much just mumbling. I turned to my date and asked "Whose the fat white guy? Where's Van Morrison?" Hey - I was only 18.

Also my first concert. This was Mustaine during the "Peace Sells" era, at the peak of his wastedness. Took him twenty minutes to change strings between songs. Slurred insults at the audience, and just acted like a genuine prick. Of course, in my thirteen-year-old mind, I thought it was awesome.

I know, I know, you probably think you would have loved to see him. Trust me, it was a train wreck from start to finish.
Unless you're really into watching people eat broken glass and their own excrement. I can take a lot for the sake of art, but that was just a slow suicide.

Like listening to over an hour's worth of music from some awful 90's teen tele-drama. :puke:
I was really there to see the brother of a friend open for her. Can't believe we actually sat through the whole damn thing.

20. Primus's opening set for Rush, back in the early '90s. |
|
I mean, Les told me they sucked, but you haven't seen 'suck' until you've seen any decent rock band open for Rush. The sound was awful -- this is de rigueur for Rush's opening bands. The only one I ever saw who had decent sound was Eric Johnson. Everybody else was terrible.
I don't even like Rush much -- first hubby was a big fan, I often went to see the opening bands get slaughtered by the sound guys.
Mike Keneally (one of Zappa's last touring guitarists) had an awful set at Sudsy Malone's in Corryville (Cincinnati) about seven years ago. Wasn't his fault -- the bar's in-house sound equipment was crap, and he relied pretty heavily on it.
