The "I really want a DU star" pledge

I've been handing out stars anonymously every quarter for more than a year now, which gives me a warm feeling every time right up to the point the recipient in question drops out of the DU universe after a week. Therefore, I'm going to need a bit of a commitment this time. I'll be handing out two stars, but I have a shrewd notion that if more than two of you reply, some good soul will probably also take care of you.

Here's all you need to say:
I really, really can't afford to donate at this time.

I am significantly hampered in my enjoyment of DU by a) not being able to search; b) not being able to run polls; or c) not being able to participate in a DU group or groups. (If c, you might also want to specify which group(s).)

I crazy mad love DU and promise that I'll be sticking around for at least the next three months.

Agree to these terms (pretty stringent, huh?) and at least two of you will be wearing a shiny star by your names, um, as soon as Skinner can get it up there after I donate in an hour or so.

It's sufficient to say "I pledge" in the subject line, though the old "I, state your name..." from Animal House is always funny, too.:D

This is a GREAT idea.

I "really really" can't afford it today... but only because all of my "political" money went out in the election. So please DON'T give me a star - I want the reminder to give when the next paycheck comes in.

The search thing IS annoying though... "hampered" is an understatement.

You should ADD to the pledge "I will seriously consider my priorities the next time I go to a movie, or out for dinner, etc and add DU to my future priorities"

I lurked for a long time, and then I joined last month. I really, really can't afford to donate at this time. As evidence, I offer the fact that we decided not to renew any of our magazine subscriptions. Goodbye, The Nation. Goodbye, Harpers. Goodbye, Consumer Reports.

It's the weekend now and admins need a little rest, too. However, the donation has been made, the email to Skinner has been sent, so some time between now and Monday you should have a shiny new star. Wear it well and though I loathe the phrase "pay it forward," when you're able, do that.

11. I really want a star i'm an unemployed father- I can't afford it now

I have been a DUer since 2003 before July 6th. I have met William Pitt and helped with the BBV issue. I feel naked without my star and the inability to search leaves me de-clawed.
I will be forever grateful to anyone who blesses me with a star.

I think BEFOREATHOUGHT answered the latter question. If you meant the former, you can donate anything more than $1 (which is what the bank charges for the transaction), but $5 is probably a reasonable minimum. When donating for myself, I give $20, thus I split it in two for star giving out purposes. (Of course you guys may yet guilt me into giving further :))
